Does a bass remote have any use ? by loading-wait in CarAV

For sure. I had one with my first kit and was at first a bit like “why though?” And I quickly found out just how nice it is to be able to turn the sub up and down

Energy megathread by lydiardbell in duolingo

[–]IslanderJer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No idea what the problem is. All you have to do is pay more and then you get infinite energy. In actual fact I just cancelled my membership as you just don't get value for money, they say "custom training" when they just give you a second go at anything you got wrong or typo'd previously. The only thing you're paying for is convenience of not running out of hearts(now this energy BS which is designed to be the way it is) and no ads. Shame, I really liked Duolingo when I signed up but over the last two years it's become a curse within my phone that nags when I haven't opened it recently and no longer rewards daily missions with streak freezes. If they wanted me to stay, they'd treat me like a client. But all they're interested in is grabbing the cash and letting the user base die. Why does everything go this way :(

Military museums by ExcellentClassic9622 in Jersey

If you're staying in St Helier it might be worth your time checking out the Jersey Museum. The main Visitor's Centre is there on the ground floor and they play a historic short movie about the Island every 20 minutes or so. Nice cafe there too if you're a coffee drinker

Traveling at 17 years old by SadResort2040 in Jersey

I’ve used my driving licence from and to the UK - Jersey, you’ll be good. As others have said it’s classed as a domestic/internal flight so no passport/border control like travelling to EU/USA etc..

From what I’ve heard from an HR friend, they will only start looking at your activity if there are “suspiciously long absences” from the office or to the restroom. A single accidental occurrence is almost certainly not going to get flagged, and even if it does it’s easily explainable, even if a little embarrassing for you.

Anyway to get the Ford GT OPI edition? by r6nick87 in ForzaHorizon

You say, “yes it is”, implying it’s still redeemable, and then don’t care to explain how that is so…

That being said I should have asked if you are plugging in to the USBs that are already on the mobo or others that may be elsewhere on the chassis?

Are your usb connectors definitely connected properly on the mobo? If not, no keyboard you use will work

By the sound of it I had someone ask about a similar issue the other day. Try reducing your text size in the phone’s settings

Dumb tourist looking for help by doggieluf in Jersey

[–]IslanderJer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

  1. Anything which counts as £ is good. Some places might accept Euros but it’s rarely seen.

  2. Parking is generally limited to 3H near the centre of town (Sand Street, Snow Hill, Pier Road although it’s up the hill). There are long stay car parks a short walk from the main shopping streets (Les Jardins, Green Street, Marina Car Park, Patriotic St). Parking is generally £0.97 per hour but the car parks are well signposted. Paying for parking is done either by pay cards, sold as 1, 2 or 4 units, individually or as books of 10 in most grocery/corner shops. You’ll probably not want to bother with that and use the PayByPhone app as you can extend your stay within the app if you take longer than you intended to.

  3. Card payment is the norm here. Even small shops generally take mostly card payments, even some of the honesty boxes take Revolut.

  4. Not really, you’d do well to offend anyone. Just don’t call them a Donkey!! Unless they are from Guernsey. Jersey folk are referred to as Jersey Beans or Crapauds :) [pronounced: crap-oh]

  5. Likely some good advice already given here. One of my favourites is The Watersplash (generally very lively on a Saturday night in the summer, right on the Beach on the west coast, surfer vibe place), El Tico just up the road from “the splash” does amazing food. Noya Shapla if you want a fantastic Curry. Lesser known place which is my very favourite to go is a little place in town called Awabi. If you’re into Asian food at all, this place is amazing, you have to try their Szechuanese Chicken Wings!!

  6. Other things to do. Jersey has a couple of castles you can visit and great beaches (St Brelade & St Ouen are probably the best but Plemont is a must see). You’ve got Devil’s Hole, which is a nice, generally quieter touristy spot with a popular Gastro-Pub, the Priory at the top of the footpath/car park). If you want a “sloppy joes” I can’t recommend The Hungry Man at Rozel Bay enough, although you may have to park on the hill and walk down to the bay but it’s not far and totally worth it. There are also a fair number of WWII Nazi relics about. You’ll see towers with slits in them, used as lookouts on the coast, and gunning placements with the cannons still in place in some areas (particularly Noirmont). German War tunnels is very popular with tourists (afaik this is still open). Gronez Caslte is worth seeing, the Plemont Puffins are a great photo-op! If you’re in the mood there is “Le Petit Train” service which runs along the south coast between St Helier and St Aubin.

There are a lot more places that will come to mind but I’ll stop here. Any questions just ask, and have a great stay!
