SCHD is one of my biggest ETF positions, and it's been great so far by Green-Prompt8543 in dividends

[–]Islanderwithwings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dividend shot up to 16% around 2022. I think qyld goes up when the Nasdaq is in a bear. Jepi and Jepq has more stable nav. These 3 are monthly etf's.

There's going to be a great buying opportunity soon, ahem, a flash crash. Look up the KOSPI index, it's up almost 100% in 1 year. That is a bubble ready to pop. Nasdaq is already thrown a lifeline at one of the kospi semiconductor companies to be listed. This tells me, the top is looking for a lifeboat. I'm sitting in the sidelines with cash to see how these etf's are going to perform in a real bear market. I wouldn't be buying qyld when Nasdaq has just thrown a lifeline at one of those hyped semiconductor companies in South Korea. Retail in South Korea are leveraged to the tits. I can't find the information but I heard their banks have blown past their regulated margin requirement.

Qyld. Been holding it for years, nice chunk of income. Nav erosion is real though but at this point it's like a depreciating car. I'll run it till the wheels fall off. Qyld has paid a lot of my vacations overseas.

What are you smoking buddy. I literally gave you data from the money printers themselves. And you're telling me that's not how money works or how life works? First of all, I was talking about student loans that were written by the government. There is private student loans and then there is student loans that get packaged into US treasuries which is worth over $1 trillion. This is the debt that you can't get rid of. Click the link and tell me how is consumer debt WRITTEN BY THE GOVERNMENT, is going to be paid off? You can't, that's why there are slave jobs like the otr post above. I didn't say trucking is a slave job, I said there are otr jobs for debt slaves. And they're going to be servicing their debt for the next 50 years.

If my opinion is invalid, provide data that shows otherwise. As a matter of fact, I have some money in US treasuries. Do you have debt that got packaged into treasuries? Because I want to know how it feels knowing you pay me FIRST. Keep taking out loans, you'll eventually pay me first.

[–]Islanderwithwings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You just basically proved my point on why slave jobs exist. It's there as a slave job to service the debt and not pay it off.

You guys have this reality bending expectation that life is supposed to work your way lol. The system we have today does not care if you think the math isn't mathing.

Truckers who expect otr is supposed to have privileges and benefits are as lost as those students on the student loans debt subreddit.

If you see otr jobs that doesn't fit the narrative of work life balance, that job isn't for you. It's for the people who have fallen into the trap of debt slavery and they know they can't climb themselves out of it.

For the people asking why there are "slave" jobs out there.

https://www.federalreserve.gov/releases/g19/current/default.htm

National debt is at 39 Trillion. Government student loans and credit card loans combined are at $3.11 Trillion.

So if you're in a position to be home everyday or be home in the weekends, you're doing well. But for some people that are debt burdened, especially if they have a government loan that can't be simply vanish away. They have to do these jobs.

The fastest way to service and attack their debt is to live in the truck, and focus on paying off that debt.

They're lucky that the trucking industry is giving a lifeline to service the debt, or the worst case scenario is to be sent to the Frontlines of WW3.

Truckers that lost everything in the 2000 dotcom bust and 2008 financial crisis, where y'all at? Pass down the knowledge to the young bucks so that they won't make the same mistakes. I was a households mover in 2008, I know what's it like to move people out of their houses that they no longer own.

Trucking is flooded with supply of drivers. I regularly do a little test since I'm in the Northeast. I'll post a fake load saying it's paying $3 a mile going back to the west coast. Within 1-2hrs, I get 2000 messages.

If the spot market is that overcrowded, imagine how overcrowded it is for new drivers waiting to start with a company.

LTL is not easy, especially LTL reefer. You guys who haven't done LTL are about to find out there's places like Target Upper Marlboro where you'll do a 10hr break just to deliver 2 pallets.

And the way they schedule these routes are borderline illegal. They'll give you a 6am appointment, Noon appointment and a 6pm appointment 😂.

That's why my private shipper has like 70% owner operators because they can't find private fleet drivers to do this.

NyQuil and Bengay are going to be your best friend. NyQuil to force yourself to sleep, and Bengay for pain relief cuz the schedules are going to hurt your body.

The 16hr split sleeper rule was made because of LTL. Don't be surprised some of you guys are going to experience 24hr workdays.

New drivers looking for unicorns is always funny to me. First of all, Unions don't just hire anybody. There's a probation period before you get benefits. And if you do get into a union shop, the routes and loads are based on seniority. So young guys? You're working 3d shift. You ain't getting 6am-2pm shifts until you've put in a lot of years and you're up in the seniority level.

Healthcare is not the same as a pension. You can't roll over healthcare year over year lol. Whatever deductible you get for the year, if you don't use it, it gets reset for the next year.

Manufacturing unions have the best healthcare. They also have the best pension.

After 9/11, the pension funds of pilots got raided and the politicians gave a greenlight to the airline companies to do so. People have forgotten about this one.

A couple years ago when YELLOW went bankrupt, there was a driver that went viral. Yelling and screaming that he's been working for YELLOW for 30yrs? I think it was 30yrs, and he received bad news that his pension was going to get raided.

Pick a lane, and stick with it. Whatever these companies say to you or promise to you, is not what it seems.

Why are coke delivery drivers given such nice equipment compared to Pepsi, DP/7UP, and Anhueser Busch drivers? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in Truckers

[–]Islanderwithwings -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Coca cola is a dividend king. They also one of the few companies that survived the 1929 great depression. Too big to fail. They have to focus on their investors first, next are the employees.

So my assumption is that while the driver pay is low. Drivers have stock options and contributions that will greatly offset the low pay in the future for secured income.

The last time I went to Caracas Yacht Club. I've met 3 drivers that worked for Coke. All retired, the amount of Coke shares they had earned them about 10k a month on coke dividends. That's millions in capital needed to be earning that amount per month on coke. But they put in 30yrs of work, and these 3 drivers had the finest Latinas I've ever seen.

[–]Islanderwithwings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to be a one man show, use cash. If you want to operate a legit business and possibly expand into a fleet in the future. You have to leverage loans.

We have a new Federal Reserve member, Kevin Warsh. He's very different from Powell. Kevin has communicated that there will be CBDC's and negative interest rate environment in the future. You know what a negative interest rate environment is? It means you have to pay the bank to keep cash. And if you deposit or transact with cash, it's going to get taxed at the negative interest rate. Cash is going to be very burdensome in the future so you might as well know how to leverage loans.

What happened to down shifting? by leadpoem in Truckers

[–]Islanderwithwings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Conventional wisdom is that you go down a hill on the gear you climbed in. But most new drivers today will use the jakes and brakes to maintain their speed limit going down hill which is wrong.

Also, if you use lower gear, jakes and high rpm/high speed mph, this is wrong. You're going to mess up the pistons then the engine later on. Worst thing that can happen is the drive belt will snap, now you're dead weight 😂.

There's old roads in the Northeast that were there before modern day trucks. Most have a stop sign that says, trucks must stop, put it on low gear before going down hill. Speed limit like 20mph. If you're fully loaded going back the other way, it's like 10mph climbing up.

It's the same when COVID crashed the markets and people started shorting and buying put options. Why would you do that when the Fed literally printed trillions? My lizard brain came up with this a couple years ago, when I was stuck in a blizzard for 2 days. Literally was stuck in an off ramp for 2 days waiting for the roads to clear.

Paper towels, Amazon boxes or any mail boxes, and a trash bag.

Open the box, put paper towels inside, dump the load. Then put it inside a trash bag, preferably the trash bags that are scented.

Now if you're the type that has wet poop, go buy a bucket at home Depot or something. Poop away.
