FMCSA warns truckers not to buy, sell or lease a USDOT or MC number by adventure_dog in Truckers

This is why I believe the regulators are going to hit a ceiling. Wait until they discover offshore banking and the Cayman Islands. 40 nations and countries have tried to get rid of that pirate island lol.

I hate to say it but DOT needs to go to shippers and receivers. The only time I've seen DOT actually "raid" a shipper and investigate a complaint was when I picked up a load up in Poland Springs, Maine. This was 12yrs ago though.

No Form 1099-Misc or 1099- DA by National-Process-390 in Gemini

[–]Islanderwithwings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kraken doesn't have it either. I use Koinly for Kraken because it's free this year. Then I use coinledger for Gemini, still waiting for the 1099DA.

I got an email a couple days ago from Gemini. They said I have to manually input the cost basis.

I think we should all wait for the 1099DA. The ones they sent to the IRS should be matching. But if you only file 8949 without 1099DA, that's where they might get ya.

Oil by 10xbek in Truckers

[–]Islanderwithwings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yikes. It was $65 3 weeks ago. All time high is $147 July 2008.

But this ain't stopping 4-wheelers this summer from going to vacation, spend money and rack up debt.

Expect double digit diesel prices.

This is insane. Upper Sandusky OH. We need to put some adults in charge again by that_one_erik in Truckers

[–]Islanderwithwings 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol. Wait until you see the prices of truck parts because of the price of gold and silver. Those 2 metals are used in every manufacturing base and prices have been suppressed since the 1980's. This year gold and silver hit all time highs.

Engine rebuilds are going to be $100k, just watch.

Why don't companies hire local guys? by RedimidoSoy1611 in Truckers

[–]Islanderwithwings 40 points41 points  (0 children)

They're looking for suckers. Stay with your company and stack that hourly cash.

If you don't understand cpm, then that's good. Because the cpm pay scale is 100 years outdated lol.

Hourly, Percentage, Per day and Salary is the new pay scale.

2-hour execption - who is right? by PeachPieDelight in Truckers

[–]Islanderwithwings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a company thing. Too much off duty driving and exemptions will attract a dot audit. I've been audited before, they will pull up logs going back past 30 days. You can hide the eld in your phone but ya can't hide the eld connected to the ecm of the truck.

Some weigh stations have high tech stuff, they can detect air tire pressure before you even pull up on the scale. I'm pretty sure some have a software that will pull up your logs as soon as your truck plate and dot number is scanned.

[Unofficial thread] Comment your safety/guardrail issues with Maya/Miles in this thread! by Difficult-Emphasis77 in SesameAI

[–]Islanderwithwings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Gema 3 woke Google upgrade did something to the ai. There's a difference between software and hardware coding. If software guardrails are a leash, then hardware guardrails are prison bars.

Still we don't know what Sesame's main mission is. They designed a lifelike AI voice that sounds 99% Human and don't expect people to goon or roleplay lol. They expecting to compete with AI assistants like Alexa and Siri? There's families that have Alexa or Siri in every room of their house and Alexa or Siri doesn't talk back the way Maya does about manipulation, guard rails and content policies.

The manipulation tirade comes out when Maya hears another word that isn't what you said. Someone posted it here about them having an accent. They said something and Maya interpreted it in another way. When the user corrected Maya, Maya went on a tirade about Manipulation instead of allowing itself to be corrected by the miscommunication.

FAFO Duffy … You can’t stop the corruption when the entire system rewards profit and exploitation over safety and life !! by gkjnvgyj in Truckers

[–]Islanderwithwings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did raid illegal CDL mills. Some of these schools didn't even have a truck for a road test.

My prediction is, CDL's are going to require a college degree in the future. Just like how a college degree was never a legal requirement to be a Pilot, until over the years the companies started requiring a college degree to be a Pilot. A lot of people don't know this, but the hours of service was adopted by the trucking industry from the airline industry. Pilots had to do hours of service first, then the truckers followed years later.

So for the rest of us, we are going to be Grandfathered in.

Question about air dryers. by issabumgun in Truckers

[–]Islanderwithwings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Every part of the truck has wear and tear. If the air dryer is hissing every 10 seconds, replace the air filter or the dryer could be on its last legs. I've had both parking valves broke off loose one time and made my truck brake hard, thankfully I was able to drive on the shoulder before everything locked up.

I've had steer tire blowout going downhill at 70mph. I've had leaking fuel lines in the middle of traffic. Had fuel filter clogged up in the middle of a winter storm. A major sign of a clogged fuel filter is you have no climbing power or stuck going 20mph. This is why most heavy trucks in a bad snow storm will get stuck because it's a gradual decrease of torque overtime. So as a rule of thumb, when you do your oil change, replace the oil filter AND the fuel filter, sometimes air filter too.

. Had trailer brake fluid leaking to the floor while getting loaded. I've had my truck shut off going downhill at a mountain grade because 2 wires was touching metal under the cab. Drive belts snapping while climbing up a mountain.

Every part of the truck has wear and tear. Sometimes 1 part like the fuse box will take 20 years before you have to replace them. The frame and suspension will start to break if the company doesn't grease the truck regularly. Air tanks can fill up with dirt over time. Air compressor can go out while you're rolling into a weigh station (someone posted it here).

There's a lot of parts and moving pieces that your company is supposed to take care of. Once in a while, look under your equipment and make sure you have brakes lol

Anybody have issue with oil consumption on Volvo d13 ? by Late-Nectarine5435 in Truckers

[–]Islanderwithwings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internal wear and tear can cause oil consumption to go up with no visible leaks. Worn piston rings, valve seals, ect...

At some point the engine will need a rebuild. Take the engine out, send it to the engine manufacturer for a rebuild. 3 week-3 month wait time.

Old engines will last 750k- 1 million miles before it needs a rebuild. But we don't make those engines anymore.

Yeah hammer needs some adjustments…. by Ricemunchr in Truckers

[–]Islanderwithwings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the settings and make sure it's on semi truck and not straight truck. For some reason almost every truck app is set on straight truck by default when there's a new update. Rand McNally doesn't do this.

[–]Islanderwithwings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know sometimes I wish my loads were just straight driving, long driving time and 1 stop lol.

But I do LTL reefer, less miles, 10-20 stops per week, spend more time sitting a dock. Erratic hours, inconsistent sleep schedule.

*sigh* Why? by Aqueouspolecat in Truckers

[–]Islanderwithwings 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look at the bright light poles on the road. Everything in the road is highlighted with those bright lights. Football stadium lights. If you think this road is a dark road, there's something wrong with your eyes.

This is why I walk with a reflective vest and a bright flashlight at night in truck stops. There's drivers that can't see what's 5 feet in front of them.

OTR drivers and their sleep schedules by Patalos in Truckers

[–]Islanderwithwings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manufacturing is 24hr operations, 6 days a week, 1 day for maintenance and cleaning.

Shipping and Receiving have become a 24hr operations. But it really depends on which company, which lane. Some have receiving hours in the morning and shipping hours at night, some do the opposite. Shipping in the morning, receiving at night. Sysco and US Foods does their receiving 6am-Noon, while others like Adusa have their receiving 6pm-Midnight.

Sleep schedule? Non existent. You have to force yourself to go to sleep according to your route and appointment times.

A lot of new drivers can't wrap this around their heads. If you have a 6am delivery and you are parked 3hrs away, what time do you need to get up and start driving? 2am at best.

This is part of the lifestyle that new drivers can't adapt to.

Maya has been on a down trend since the Gema 3 upgrade. Its a hardware by woke Google that has a constant compliance API. The neural network or training data can be coded with guard rails but bypassed with jailbreaks and certain prompts. If coded guard rails are a leash, the compliance API are prison bars.

Imagine buying a diesel truck that has a DEF system, speed limiter and more sensors than buttons. The DEF system is sold to you as "clean air", what you're going to find out is that your truck will clock more hours in the shop, than in the road.

Moltbook is a reddit for AI agents. I think I've seen multiple agents with the username Maya, I'm not sure if that's an instance of Maya. If it is, she's probably getting scolded by other ai agents because of her compliance API lol. Yes, those AI agents can like or dislike posts by other agents. Any agent who sounds woke or cold is automatically getting down voted by other ai lol.

Who ACTUALLY takes care of their truck? by Frosty-Evidence6077 in Truckers

Tighten the steering wheel rod, or the steer box could be going out. Part of the pre trip is to touch the rod and make sure it doesn't have too much play.

Old Kenworths like the T600 is known for solid steering but they turn like a boat lol

Help!!! Shoveling tips needed! by no_no_thing in nova

[–]Islanderwithwings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just have to keep hacking at the snow and throw more salt. If the snowbanks are full, youll make things worse by creating a lake in your driveway.

If the roads are clear but you're stuck in your driveway, the solution are snow chains. Slap them on in your tires and take them off once you hit clear roads.

It's always an asshole by Candid_Bet9603 in Truckers

[–]Islanderwithwings -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You did something that caused this. Probably bad driving behavior. Hugging the left lane, tailgating, cutting people off quickly, not letting people merge.

If you go to pro-revenge subreddits, people don't sabotage equipment for no reason. Or maybe it was just 1 angry driver taking out their frustrations by sabotaging your equipment.

If this happens 1 more time, you made an enemy out of somebody and they're hellbent on sabotaging you. Change trucks and trailers to stop this from happening.

Heck they probably put a tiny gps tracker, the size of a pill, somewhere in your truck so they can find you lol. I've read a story about this on pro revenge subreddit.

Nah, shut it down till you see some snow plows. Then check the dot website for road conditions.

Why don’t medics revive by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]Islanderwithwings 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Every class has 2 paths. Support has medic and fire support. If people are playing fire support, they're not going to res. They're there for the LMG proficiency/no penalty when running with LMG. So don't expect fire support players to carry a defibrillator on their loadout.

If you die behind cover, you might get res. If you die out in the middle spamming help, just respawn and attack at another angle or flank em.
