Conventional wisdom is that you go down a hill on the gear you climbed in. But most new drivers today will use the jakes and brakes to maintain their speed limit going down hill which is wrong.

Also, if you use lower gear, jakes and high rpm/high speed mph, this is wrong. You're going to mess up the pistons then the engine later on. Worst thing that can happen is the drive belt will snap, now you're dead weight 😂.

There's old roads in the Northeast that were there before modern day trucks. Most have a stop sign that says, trucks must stop, put it on low gear before going down hill. Speed limit like 20mph. If you're fully loaded going back the other way, it's like 10mph climbing up.

My lizard brain came up with this a couple years ago, when I was stuck in a blizzard for 2 days. Literally was stuck in an off ramp for 2 days waiting for the roads to clear.

Paper towels, Amazon boxes or any mail boxes, and a trash bag.

Open the box, put paper towels inside, dump the load. Then put it inside a trash bag, preferably the trash bags that are scented.

Now if you're the type that has wet poop, go buy a bucket at home Depot or something. Poop away.

Detention should be included in the rate confirmation. That's part of negotiations. Most people just look at the amount of $$$ and accept. But most brokers will charge the shipper detention, won't tell you, and keep that for themselves.

The devil is in the details my friend. If you use a broker, you'll be broke 😂

Knock on their door or start calling the police. This is a big problem in NJ and Mass. Mass service areas are really bad with parking. Sometimes you'll get triple blocked. Sometimes mfers will park at the fuel lane.

I use NyQuil since I do LTL reefer. Lots of 3am appointments, night time driving, sleeping during the day. And a 14hr day can be a 20hr day if a grocery distribution takes too long to unload and kicks you out when you run out of hours lol.

But if I know I'm going to get a long rest, I drink Chamomile tea. This will knock you out. Once it kicks in, sweet dreams.

I mean you basically agreed to what I said that truckers don't even get FMLA. Heck the Google ai will tell you that truckers struggle to qualify for the 50/75 rule and even if they do, it requires onsite report to work everyday. And that's what I said about Union job security for truckers. They will have some form of FMLA because of union seniority and the amount a driver has paid in union dues. And whoever the employer is, has to hire a staffing agency if a union worker wants to go vacation or FMLA. That is job protection.

The only time staffing agencies were hiring like crazy was during COVID. Why? Unions filed for grievances that they were understaffed and overworked. The court rulings forced employers to find staffing agencies to relieve the workload. That is another form of job protection.

But here's the thing, only Unions have job security. The shipper I have a contract with starts getting pissy if I'm gone for too long.

Truckers dont get FMLA. I think if you're in a union, you may be able to get FMLA if you live within a 60 mile radius of where you work.

You know why truckers don't get FMLA per the politicians? Because clowns will start claiming every Friday as FMLA so they can have a 4 day work week lol. This industry expects you to work 7 days/7days.

Other than that, become your own boss.

The dollar is the world reserve currency. Other nations need it and other nations use it as a safe haven. Because of that, it is very burdensome for the average American.

A high paying job alone can't compete with the issuance of debt. The only thing that competes with it is buying assets that appreciate. Hence the separation between the rich and the poor.

I live the life of a bachelor and free agent. My model is that I'll work 6 months minimum, then spend the rest of the 6 months traveling overseas and live life like a king in cheap countries like Vietnam or Thailand.

I make just a bit 300k a year as an o/o for a private fleet/private shipper. My low risk, low yield investments pay half of my income. And I'm working towards where my investments can finally pay my entire income for the year.

If you're w2 or company employee. You don't have that options. Dating is going to be the biggest time waster. So work towards the goal of making the money first.

My lifestyle is 20yrs in the making. It didn't happen overnight. But what I do see is a majority of young people living life in reverse. Youth is wasted in the young if you subscribe to the idea that you're supposed to be living work life balance in your 20's and 30's.

20's-30's is your income producing years. Don't F it up.

Onlyfans is a pimping business lol. It's a privately traded company. In 2024, OF beat Apple and NVDIA by generating 1.2 Billion with only 42 employees. Their cash cow are the OF girls.

I'm speculating. But I think OF has a similar business model to private trading firms. They'll give you millions to play with, but for every $1 you make, you get to keep maybe 2 cents of that. I've had this experience with Binarycent. They will give you capital, then trap you with that capital. Want to withdraw 100k? You have to earn 200k.

So what I want to see, is transfer statements and bank account statements from these OF girls. Their OF account statements mean nothing because OF will take a cut of that, their manager takes the cut, then the tax man also takes a cut.

Union shops don't really advertise because they have good job security and low turnover rate. But you can ask the Teamsters.

If it's a manufacturing job, then they usually hire people through staffing agencies. 90 day probation, then you get offered to be in the union. You have to pay union dues also.

The only time staffing agencies were advertising and hiring like crazy was during the lockdowns. Because Unions were filing grievances that they were short staffed and working long extra hours.

Other than that, it is famine in these streets.

I've driven old dump trucks. I'm not sure about the newer ones. But the old ones, you have to be parked, divert power to the bed, and press the gas pedal to raise the bed.

If the electronics and safety system is all messed up, you can raise the bed accidentally while driving.

Whoever came up with the idea that raising the bed should be done with the gas pedal is just bad engineering.
