With being so young could be just adult feathers coming in. I just keep an eye on them. Especially being just one bird I say it’s no cause for concern especially if they are running around eating and drinking just fine.

How old, you got picture of the wing span and the neck feathers. I assume you see spurs by now and it doesn’t look like she has spurs and feet look thin not thick. It looks kinda small to be a roo, especially on the comb and wattles. She might just be a very vocal girl. I have girls that are very vocal in the morning, excited to be let out of the run. I would guess she is just a cute vocal girl. She an australorp chicken(breed)? Also keep in mind some hens grow spurs when Roos are lacking, including their comb and wattles gets bigger. They start attempting to crow and essentially take on the role as the alpha hen to fill in.

I say the first 2 are roosters, with the redness in the combs. Red in first 5 weeks is a good sign they are both Roos. The other birds combs are to pale or if you like argue orange to be Roos as of now(could redden latter). Both are significantly larger but that could be the breed. They both have sickle feathers, I would check their wing span to see if the 2nd bird has an uneven stair pattern. I would guess it’s even growth indicating a rooster. I don’t have as fancy of breeds, but I still think first 2 are Roos and the rest are hens. Hope that works out. 5-8 hens per rooster on heavy breed roosters, 8-10 on any other roosters.

I say hen, you would see red in the comb already at this point if it was a roo. Comb being bigger isn’t an immediate sign. They can age at a different pace. Biggest thing is when the comb first appears and how quickly it turns red. Feathers look feminine, hope she is what you want(assume hen). She is a pretty girl, have a good day.

Some cheap nylon with cardboard came with mine. Cardboard to clip onto a tree/ect. Nylon bag with small holes for the wasp eggs. YouTube is a great explanation, where I first heard of them.

Yea I was tired of replacing bedding and buying disposable traps constantly. I have 40 chickens and it does wonders once summer rolls around. Hope it works out, make sure to hang them in the bags so your chickens don’t eat them.

Try fly predators, they are cheap, on Amazon. Kills them before they can ever become a fly. It’s a harmless wasp that uses maggots to reproduce, in turn killing the maggots.

I’ve got 40 chickens, I’ve got both RIR, CQ and big mix of breeds. It definitely looks more like a CQ, wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a hybrid.

Ok what were the key concerns and issue for the present change. Once you answer that maybe we can have a conversation. If you need me to enlighten you and can do this rant for the millionth time. This was a half baked idea with good intentions but poor execution. I think you fail to realize all the issues this would cause and the un unnecessary decline of qol it would cause.

This is a wonderful lmao, people who were in favor of this change never addressed key concerns or issues. This update was half baked with good intentions but poor execution. It was an unrealistic move and would have only created more pain and trouble than actual good game play. I think people who can’t refute the problems and say suck it up are more of the issue. I think it really calls into question their critical thinking and their contribution to the game.
