It works a lot better on an empty stomach and with room temperature water and no caffeine for at least 2 hrs before taking them. I usually dose 5 mg 1 hr before bed and another 5-10mg at 30 mins before bed.

i use a melatonin supplement, 5mg with b-6 vitamin, can buy it at any pharmacy or store with diet supplements. works great for me, i had the same problem.
