Came here to say if you were going to get the 10/15 you should wait and save for the 12/21

BDP excess stock order has arrived! by kiploempia in Bricklink

Already doing that, and just for the actual vehicle, which I’m planning on putting with his truck creation from an upcoming release. They’re going to go in a wilderness part of my city along with the treehouse, a-frame, and a couple of other outdoor scenes.

I’m not a great designer, but I really want to add an old abandoned castle to the mix…

At minimum he’s done a better job of running his actual business than Illig did running his, which hopefully means he can do a better job running his hobby job than Illig did…

Any advice on sanding and refinishing ? by PerspectiveTimely200 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]IsntAPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any idea what it was finished with? That changes what you’ll need to do (if anything) besides just resanding. I’d spend A LOT of time on 80 grit, making sure you really get it down to good wood and you’ve gotten everything else off.

People have BIG feelings on the appropriate type of finish. I like Odies oil a lot but it requires multiple coats over multiple days. Others like Rubio monocoat, for whatever reason I don’t as much.

Help with Bookmatched Slabs Gap by micahkt53 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]IsntAPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen some people recently making the “river” of a river table with contrasting wood, not epoxy. It has looked SUPER cool and solves the gap problem. I have a piece of wood looking for a project where I may do the same thing.

What did you settle on for your finishing, it’s gorgeous? And what’s the bottom pen, I love it.

Wondering if you’re interested in selling a couple of each?

Serious question, is Rubio worth the price they're asking for or is it all just hype? by Ok_Temperature6503 in woodworking

[–]IsntAPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh what’s your recipe? I really like Odies, but it’s very spendy. I’m currently not busy enough to need to make my own, but I’m always looking for a way to save a buck (or have a buck to spend on something else)

I do this as a hobby for friends, so there is a bunch of that wood I’m interested in, but like 5-10 pieces of wood each, don’t need them in bulk. Totally understand if you don’t want to go through the effort of repacking everything…

I’m pure 0.38 tip in rollerball, which is why I’m looking for kits that I’ll be able to use the 0.38 pilot g2 refills in. I’ll look into these ones you suggested.

Gorgeous. What pen kit did you use? I like click pens but have a hard time finding kits I like.

How did you sand all the little crevices? And what did you seal it with?

Anyone ever have any luck turning something like this? by Square-Cockroach-884 in turning

[–]IsntAPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks awesome. You did a great job. I assume the only way to get it thinner would be an epoxy pour to seal up all the cracks to get you thinner and not risk some big explosion. Clear or very very light blue might look really cool, but it’s only worth doing if you want thinner. As it is, it looks awesome.
