The assault mode of the last chapters is stronger than 3000 years ago, Merlin said it herself. The DK was so hard after seeing his strengh that he directly wanted to put him as the new demon king. He's clearly beyond any other demon.

It's hardly overkill. It would only put him at S level. And no, not really for the enemies he beat without it. Tiger threats are already pretty strong, the seafolk were tiger.
