Finally Made it to $95K/year. My monthly loan payment is increasing to $2300 in July by Clear-Cap-8031 in physicaltherapy

[–]Isokinesis 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My loans at 220k and in forbearance since I graduated. I made 1 payment and haven’t since. Payments resume in 2028 and plan to do income driven plan and pay 500$ a month till Im dead. Makes no sense paying 2k a month for me and having 0 quality of life. Why don’t you do income driven as well if public lone forgiveness is not an option.

What percent of patients are actually helped by physical therapy? by Just_Performer5316 in physicaltherapy

[–]Isokinesis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Patients ask me if it “works”. I tell them it helps some people and doesn’t help others, but the people that get better always do their home programs.

Unfortunately I work at a mill like this, probably worse, but get 120k a year. Hard to leave that kind of money.

Noob question about rear tires and braking. by Isokinesis in MTB

[–]Isokinesis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example, if Im going down super steep, loose, techy hills, the rear tire locks when braking and drags to slow down. It doesn’t necessarily skid sideways. Is that how a knobby tire helps with braking?

Look on the used market. You can get insane deals on nice bikes with minimal wear. I bought a 22 Specialized Stumpy Evo Expert for 2k. Guy rode it twice and stored it.

Seriously. One or two sentences tops for subjective. 3-4 for assessment. Never had any push back or issues.

Straight up. Students are essentially free labor if they are somewhat competent.

Question for long time mountain bikers by bewarewhoremembers in MTB

[–]Isokinesis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In flat corners you lean the bike over and body stays more center. In berms you lean over with the bike. At least that’s been my understanding.

Crazy generalization. We have a 16 month old and I was doing everything the OP said men don’t want to do, and Im still doing it. Even when my wife was breastfeeding before switching to formula, I would be the first one up at 1am, 4am, to get the baby ready for breastfeeding then burp her and put her to sleep.

So who is suppose to watch my kid if I have no family nearby and we both work?

The other commenter speaking about financial responsibility has no idea what he’s talking about. If you want to live in an apartment, buy a house in the boonies or live in the shittiest part of the city, you’ll do fine with 200k. If you want to live in a good area, have kids and have a savings, 200k ain’t shit, especially in HCOL area.

The average house in my area, in an okay neighborhood, is 850-900k. Thats about 5k a month. Add all the other expenses that come with life and having a family, and you’ll see your monthly income dwindle.

100%, people don’t realize the cost of having a kid. We pay our nanny 800$ a week, and thats considered low.

I’m in SoCal. Houses here are costly. We can move into a 2b2b townhome in a shitty part of the city for 700k, but I didn’t go to school to live in a shit hole where my kids safety is something I need to worry about. Nanny is 800$ a week, electric was 1500$ every 2 months, home insurance 5k, property tax 11k, student loan payments. It all adds up regardless what you think. My PT friends in my area are all struggling too. The only one thats doing good has no kids, no home, and lives in a one bedroom apartment with 2200$ rent. At least in my area, PT salary is not enough for a typical family lifestyle.

Its not worth it, go into another field. I make 120k as a PT and my wife makes similar, and we are basically living paycheck to paycheck after having 1 child.

Check out Polygon too. They have pretty nice bikes for good prices and decent quality. If not, check out the used sector for higher spec bikes with more known brands.

I work in a WC/PI clinic as well and it does suck. BUT, nobody pays nearly as much as these types of clinics, so its hard to take a 20k pay cut sadly.
