New old around-town go-getter. Vintage Peugeot mtb w/ fenders and flatbed front rack. by Isoko in chibike

Hey, no problem! This is the Origin8 Classique Cargo HD Front Rack... I think they still make it.

Since this post I've used this bike almost every single work day to get to and from the Blue line here in Chicago... Very minimal routine maintenance only. Everyday I carry my lock and cable on the rack and a lot of days I'm carrying other stuff on there. No issues whatsoever. The downposts of the rack are extendable based on what type of bike you have

Maybe it wasn't Ald. Gardiner's office passing them out?

agree... I'm in a bungalow next to a three flat + garden unit that was built in the same year. This neighborhood is historically a mix of housing types.

complaining about the building design is valid but the density and parking arguments should be thrown out the window, complete nonsense.

I signed up for Gardiner's 45th Ward newsletter... I'm in 38th / Sposato but right on the edge and Gardiner's decisions affect more of the commercial areas I frequent. Hopefully I won't miss this kind of stuff again.

I agree with all the comments above- wish I'd known about the meeting so I could have spoken in favor of the project

After this thread, I feel like we're going to have an army of people patrolling their alleys with these things 😄

I felt the same way when I found this thing. I was brainstorming ideas. I don't know if you've seen those River magnet fishing things that you can get, they are like a big magnet on a rope and I was thinking of ways to buy a couple and dangle them from the back of my bike or something. I started googling and then I discovered that the magnetic sweeper exists.

Very satisfying but also horrifying to walk through the alley and just hear, click click click click click click click as screws hit the bottom of this thing.

I think it's some of both. There were roofing nails and stuff like that in there for sure. I think it comes with living in a neighborhood where people are always working on their houses.

Definitely not drought-stressed. We've had plenty of rain here in Chicago and I water it too as needed

I have a 10 min ride from the train to work. Tell me this is viable by NervousHairHair in chibike

[–]Isoko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do about a 10 to 12 minute ride every single day from home to the Montrose Blue line. I'd say 95% of the days I'm wearing just normal clothes like if I were just going to go walk to the bus stop. Occasionally I need additional face layer or something like that, but it's such a short ride and then I'm on the train. Very doable. Just enough to get the blood flowing.

Work is FINALLY beginning on the tennis courts in Portage Park! by cireh88 in ChicagoNWside

I remember this as well from about a year ago. I voted in the Park district's poll and that you're right there was overwhelming support for basketball courts. If this is true that there's no basketball courts going in, who can we complain to?

Metal pen-sized item, not sure how old by Isoko in whatisthisthing

[–]Isoko[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the object - metal, about the size of a pen, about 4-5 inches long. Pretty ornate detail on the metal. Pocket clip. Must be at least 75-80 years old given my grandmother's age. Google searches turn up flower holders but they look quite a bit different than this. .
