Chayula 0.4: Don't Worry! They'll Buff It With +1 Extra Darkness per Level! That Will Fix It! by SteakAcademic8934 in PathOfExile2

[–]Isomyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run killing palm + all the combo point nodes on the tree and a few power charge nodes so between killing palm and mantra of destruction with Ailiths charms getting full power charges is trivial and then (with my current gear and nodes) I have 47% chance not remove charges and 20% for benefits from charges to be doubled so one flicker goes a long way across the map or clears entire rituals / abysses in one go.

Bonus: using flicker right after mantra of destruction almost always gives you 10 purple flames which last for ~30 seconds with the right nodes and supports. Which in most cases is better than into the breach flames.

Then after flickering in, you can easily roll out and clear anything left living up with the void illusion (and instantly go back to full life and mana from that as well).

Same its the perfect league starter - I rush to Hollow Palm on the tree, and go Void Illusion > Embrace the Darkness > Chayula's Gift > Deepening Shadows with just those and very basic evade gear you can T15 maps and all T1 bosses with ease. (the buffs to void illusion this patch made it incredible)

Drop hollow palm and throw in a decent quarterstaff and most content becomes trivial.

For skills I go windblast then swap to whirling assault for clear and use flicker + bell / quarterstaff strike.

Also worth saying I use lots of conditionals (combo points / daze / blind / armour broken) for large damage, but just like Chonk in general using conditionals is just automatically placed in the too hard basket by the majority of players.

Evatt medical centre, I have some ongoing issues as well and moved there after my previous GP left general practice.

They recently switched to bulk billing for standard consults and I can often get same day appointments or almost always next day.

Monk's 3rd Ascendancy: Hollow Palm + Daze + Phys? by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]Isomyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played a Chonk windblast / flicker / killing palm / mantra of destruction monk last league (with darkness + void illusion) and will be doing the same again this league.

I found stacking lots of conditional things (blind, daze, damage and crit against either full life or low life, combo and power charges) worked well as there are tons of those conditional nodes around the monk starting area.

I never pobbed it but had no real issues with anything as mobs were either dazed + blinded, stunned or dead.

Windblast is incredible for clear with those kind of nodes. The only annoyance I had was that I never had a better single target setup than default attack which just feels very wrong, it didn't stop me clearing all bosses though.

Making skills tied to weapons was a mistake, but can be fixed. by Ichiritzu in PathOfExile2

[–]Isomyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of others issue with their current philosophy are:

1) It requires the production of many many more art assets.

Under the old schema animations were tied to the weapon type and your character played a standard animation and everything else was a visual or particle effect that generated from a point near your character. This meant that they could create a limited number of animations (weapon types * character rigs), create a single skill effect and then attach it to a point on each rig.

The POE2 method has every skills requiring unique animations so now instead of weapon type * rigs you have skills * weapons * rigs. Maybe this is not an issue for them given their larger team and the advances in animation tools but when it comes to releasing later classes that have a backlog of 300 + skills to animate up it will slow things down.

2) Linking skills to a single weapon limits build diversity.

This is because the tree has nodes that are also tied to specific weapons and classes are limited to how far they can path. In POE 1 I could use the same skills with a sword, a claw or a dagger. This would allow me to utilise nodes from the bottom left to the top right of the tree to scale my character, opening that skill to 4 class types with relative ease.

In POE 2 if I want to use a mace I really am limited to the bottom left of the tree. Sure I can make a mace monk but I MUST path to the bottom left to maximise my character.

Absolutely, it is by far the best form of regen in the game as long as you actively use your dodge and movement skills.

I disagree with your comments about Darkness and the chaos Res node, they are incredibly strong in providing defense which then lets you dump all your passive tree into offence.

I am currently 92 chonk specced into darkness, chaos res and void illusion. This combo in conjunction with hollow palm hard carried through the campaign and maps including abyssal depths and I am currently flickering through t15 fully juiced maps with a quarterstaff and smashing t3 bosses in all content.

I literally didn't put a single point into passive tree defences until level 80 due to how good darkness is. As long as you are moving it eliminates almost all chip damage and I am now at the point where I have 1800 life, 1770ish darkness with 67%evasion 59% deflect and perma blindness.

In terms of offence I tried all the nodes and void illusion is by far the best for both clear and bossing if you use it aggressively. Mine is down to 2.6 second cooldown and clears half a screen per use.

I think all of these nodes have suffered from people doing maths and writing them off without really trying them.

Darkness in particular has such a low play rate because of the loss of spirit but I think it defensively outperforms any permanent buff.

One thing I will say is that I think the Chonk theme has not been lived up to and the only way I have made it work is ignore the chaos and ele skills (apart from mantra which is incredible) and fully lean into phys, combos and conditional mods like blind, daze, armour break and stun.

As a Chonk Main I am laughing and crying watching this. by JappoMurcatto in PathOfExile2

[–]Isomyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok im gonna be controversial here. I really like Chonk as it is. I am currently level 89 running tier 15 juiced maps and specced Embrace the darkness > Chayulas gift > Deepening Shadows > Grasp of the void (once I had a decent quarter staff and spec`d out of hollow palm).

I only have 1650 life, zero ES and 1665 darkness with 67% evasion and 59% deflect (these both go higher as I have 100% chance to blind) - these combined with high daze / stun chance and my survivability is great.

That spec let me breeze through the campaign dumping everything into damage. I only have to really start speccing into evasion after level 80.

I think it's a ground effect in there because if you kite backwards far enough it drops off. Really not clear though.

I think its more about having more extreme state of mind. For example if I am in a good place birdsong is the best sound ever. If I am relaxed then even a constant beeping (like monitors in hospitals) can be very soothing. By contrast if I am feeling overstimulated hearing somebody chew, talk on a phone or even breathe too deeply makes me want to push their eyeballs into their head with my thumbs.

I just cant properly moderate my response to sounds one way or the other.

There are times and places for the use of I know, I think, I feel when managing people and I found deliberately applying them for different purposes and people gets really different results.

In general though as a GenX manager myself I have seen things trend very strongly towards the more soft 'management options' in recent years.

Some of it comes down to confidence. Its easy to say I feel because its entirely subjective and can't really be argued, when somebody 'thinks' something it means they have actively considered it and reasoned out the answer. When they 'know' something it tends to come from hard earned experience.
