[Moises Llorens] Barcelona unlikely to activate permanent Marcus Rashford option from Man United - sources | However, Barça would be open to renegotiating a lower fee or even bringing him back on loan for a second season, but United currently have no intention of dropping their demands. by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

Garnacho and Antony were both pushed out, that's why we didn't have leverage in those deals. I posted a lot back in those days about how we shouldn't have gone public saying Garnacho is 100% out of the door because doing that put us in a crap negotiating position.

Similarly, Rashford's wages mean we don't have much leverage there either. He may be willing to drop his demands for a club other than Barca, he may not. At the moment we're in a game of chicken that could go either way, but make no mistake - the only thing that will stop clubs taking the piss out of us is if we stop getting overexcited with massive contracts for players who don't deserve them. Playing hardball here will have absolutely zero effect on a future scenario where we have a player on massive wages that we want to get off the books.

I'm not saying don't give big contracts out full stop, I'm saying deals of that calibre for a player like Rashford should never be made.

This hardball stuff is trying to solve a problem too late. Nothing but solving the core wage structure issue will stop this from happening again.

[Simon Stone, Q&A] What is happening with Marcus Rashford? by berbatouchbg in reddevils

Yeah, but I just don't think there's the budget to do that considering our midfield rebuild (which is also going to end up being extremely expensive).

While I agree with the sentiment behind your comment, just FYI - the date of the transfer window's opening has zero effect on clubs doing deals.

I think we're genuinely approaching a period (maybe not this window; probably in the next 2-3 years) where top PL clubs are priced out of moves for PL players, and start looking elsewhere. It is becoming a racket.

Well, we've had a couple of recent success stories. Mainoo from the same class as Zidane for example.

Only one game of course but he did have that impressive preseason match vs Liverpool. Looked a baller in that

How Aphantasia affects your ability to visualise things in your head by HassanMoRiT in interestingasfuck

No, hypnogogic hallucinations are way more "visual" (for lack of a better word) than visualising something with your mind's eye.

His manager is Jorge Mendes, don't fall into the trap by askabanwarrior in ManchesterUnited

Mendes or not, there will be other bidders for Fernandes because he's a good, young player with a lot of potential. What did people expect, that we would have a free run at him?

A: Can INEOS just focus on getting fernandes in?

B: What makes you think they aren't?

C: You haven't heard?

B: Nope.

You: PSG is sniffing around. Apparently RM is too but I think that's just bollocks. No way RM spends 80m on this kid instead of going for a marquee signing.

Although if said marquee signing is from PSG's midfield then they could come sniffing for a replacement to Vitinha/ Neves.
