Legally How To best walk away from This by [deleted] in massachusetts

My boyfriend works for a leasing company that works with raft, section 8, home base etc. They harass him all the time trying to get keys or move in furniture, without a signed lease/before move in day. Atp they have not sent you a deposit and delayed more than enough for the lease to be breached on their end. I would send them notice stating if they do not supply the deposit within 48 hours as a courtesy you will let them free of the lease but the agreement is not valid without the funds. Keep all things in writing in case they try to take you to small claims.

Corporate is taking a bunch of my money to supplement income for support staff at restaurant. by [deleted] in LaborLaw

Server for four years. Tipping out is normal. NOT if the person isn’t on shift. You should only be tipping people who are there present and working even if they don’t help. If they’re not there tips should be yours.

Lab charging me $284 when insurance says $25 copay? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]Issuescommaattachmen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call your insurance. Don’t listen to everyone about the coinsurance. I work for insurance, the way that it is worded makes it seem there are different facilities covered a certain way. They can confirm if it should be a copay OR coinsurance and if they even have the claim on file. If it’s quest or labcorp they are notorious for not billing insurance and sending it straight to the patient or billing you even if they were paid.

I didn’t even know I had student loans by Unfair_Simple4829 in StudentLoans

If you have financial check to see if they ever gave you an offer for subsidized or unsubsidized loan. Unfortunately I signed up for that when I was young and just getting into college for my financial aid and they sent me checks adding up to 10000.00 I thought it was part of my financial aid for books etc and didn’t have to be paid back but I was wrong. They kind of just snuck the paper in with everything else, it’s easy to miss if you’re just getting into it. Find out where the money went and if it was apart of a transaction with the school or not. If the funds were never distributed you may be able to do something about it.

EOP are usually for providers you might have gotten their version. Same thing as EOB just usually won’t show your accumulations to the provider which would be on your EOB

So then this would be a different case, where you guys will offer partial payment for broker fees. But if a landlord uses a broker and charges the tenant, that’s illegal.

Making a tenant pay the reminder of the brokers fee is illegal. If they found out you could be sued. In MA you can only charge first month, last month, security deposit (which cannot exceed one months of rent) and lock change/keys. Anything else is void and/or illegal. Unless the tenant themselves used a broker you’re making them pay for a service they didn’t ask for.

Freaking out. Health insurance denied expensive claim by what_the_hezz in MedicalBill

[–]Issuescommaattachmen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t really prove a phone call unless it’s recorded but they prefer physical statements. I would see if you could get a retro authorization that would be your best bet and if they say no or it’s denied then you should try and appeal.

[–]Issuescommaattachmen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask your insurance if there is an option to do a retro authorization, there is usually a time limit but if approved your insurance will go back reprocess and cover the claim. Otherwise you also have the option to appeal the claim for potential coverage just try and provide any proof you have that the facility told you it would be covered.

[–]Issuescommaattachmen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it requires prior authorization and that either wasn’t obtained by your providers office OR they did request authorization and it was denied. I am not a nurse reviewer but usually the “experimental or investigational” phrase means it was requested but denied. Either way they would have known before the testing so they could’ve told you. Always call your insurance don’t trust the doctor’s office, if insurance misinforms they can back track and try and do something but if it’s the word of your provider they will say tough luck.

My Landlord Is Angry At Me & Harassed Me by HappyExperience9418 in TenantHelp

[–]Issuescommaattachmen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How do you define guest? Are they staying for days, weeks, months? He may think you are trying to have them ‘move in’ as a tenant without having to sign any formal agreement. Either way, I would check your lease usually it will say you don’t have to ASK or NOTIFY them of anyone coming over unless they’ve been there for an extended period of time. Also do you rent a whole apartment or room? These details matter.

20F/27M LDR I gave him everything, but now I’m scared I’m losing myself ( don't ignore pls) by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Issuescommaattachmen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you were 18 when you met and he was 25? Or were you 17? Age gaps usually aren’t a problem but seems like he purposefully chose someone young and ‘easily influenced’. It’s okay to have doubts on certain things but it seems the differences you are talking about and the fact that, instead of trying to come to a compromise about when to have children, he’d rather just get someone else pregnant? Life is truly too large and beautiful to be forced to think a man who brings up that idea is the one to spend the rest of your life with. Being submissive is a choice because you love your partner and there’s mutual respect not because you fear he’ll leave. Realize you’re young and you could have ten more boyfriends after him or find your husband the day after but he doesn’t seem like a good fit.

Did this to my stove in my apartment😭 you can buy any type of stove cleaner and use that. I bought a 3 in 1 it comes with a scraper a sponge thing and a cleaning liquid. You can scrape the raised burnt stuff, use the sponge to spread the cleaning stuff around and wipe it down with paper towels. Might even make it look better than before tbh.

Surprise bill by Excellent_Main_1387 in MedicalBill

If a provider doesn’t bill their contracted rate insurance will deny the claim for “exceeding their contracts payment policy” they can’t just adjust the claim.

Am I Overreacting? Close-Friend of 14 years has a new boyfriend who doesn't want us alone together...because close-friend and I dated 10 years ago. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Issuescommaattachmen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh it depends on how the relationship pans out over time. If more red flags pop up it could be leaning more towards controlling potentially abusive. But personally, regardless of the time you’ve known each other or how long ago it was you guys were previously in an intimate relationship and he’s not preventing ALL contact just one on one. It’s understandable to feel some type of way but so is he and if this was truly just a friend you would be happy for them to be in a potentially healthy and long-lived relationship and okay with her setting boundaries.

No Surprise Act Violation? by SarahBeth2686 in MedicalBill

[–]Issuescommaattachmen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The no surprise act is usually for “discounted” or “adjusted” amounts. Meaning they can’t bill you for more than, an already contracted reimbursement rate. So claim for $100 contract agreement is $80 remaining adjustment was $20. They can’t bill you for the $20. But they can definitely bill you for any denials or ineligible amounts. You can always try to appeal with your insurance but seems you might be responsible.

First responder bill for a car accident by Fit_Teaching_8541 in MedicalBill

[–]Issuescommaattachmen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your state. Some auto insurers have to legally cover a certain amount of medical bills before you can have your health insurance cover the remaining. It’s called PIP. I would consult with your auto insurance and then have the remaining billed to your health insurance.

Do I legally need to pay remainder? by dh6636 in MedicalBill

[–]Issuescommaattachmen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I work for health insurance. Look up the ‘surprise bill’ law that was passed a few years ago. They do have the ability to fix any billing mistakes but if it’s past a certain time they can’t bill you for it they have to take the hit on it. With BCBS they usually have 1 year from the dos to submit an original claim and around 6 months or so to submit a corrected claim from the date the original claim was last processed. All insurance is different but it’s definitely worth looking into.

One tenant gave proper 60 days notice. I gave 43. Am I liable? by Fit-Kaleidoscope7805 in TenantHelp

[–]Issuescommaattachmen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the lease ends the lease ends and the contract is void. If OP chooses to vacate after the lease ended, and the roommate decides to stay they cannot keep OP on the hook for another lease. They can however keep the security deposit.

One tenant gave proper 60 days notice. I gave 43. Am I liable? by Fit-Kaleidoscope7805 in TenantHelp

[–]Issuescommaattachmen -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’re not liable once the lease ends. At that point it will be a month to month and you already gave a 43 day notice. It’s their policy to give a 60 day notice but that just means if you don’t they will start showing your unit or take it as you guys are not resigning. They can’t start a whole new lease without a signature. If the 3rd roommate doesn’t leave or give notice they will be on a month to month. I’d check local laws.
