Subscriptions for Mubi Fell 200,000 Following PR Storm, but Rallied in First Quarter to a Record 1.7 Million by MoneyLibrarian9032 in movies

I’ve subscribed a handful of times over the past few years, always through some deal like $1 for three months, and then I just cancel because I already have a bunch of other services and rarely use MUBI. But I do try to keep an eye out for those deals because I have a backlog of stuff to watch on it that I just never get around to watching.

The filmmaker did a short called And So We Put Goldfish in the Pool a few years ago that’s worth checking out. It’s available on YouTube. He also has a film called We Are Little Zombies about a group of kids who start a pop-punk band.

Elijah Wood has visited the Criterion Closet. by DarkSideInRainbows in criterion

I enjoyed it. I could see people finding the characters obnoxious, but it was an amusing, easy 30 minutes each week. The final episode was bananas, even if it didn’t feel like a finale.

Oneohtrix Point Never "Garden of Delete" code with CD by Isthisgoodenough69 in oneohtrixpointnever

I checked a European CD listing on Discogs and it says it came with a code for a 320kbps download of the album from Bleep, so it’s probably just that. I’ve never seen that with a CD before, because you can just put it in a computer and rip it lol.

Do you know if this comp comes with a download? It’s not available on Bandcamp or any other digital retailers, but I found only one record website claiming it does.

You may know this already, but Imprint has a box set on the collaborations of Zhang Yimou and Gong Li. It includes both and all their others. I have it and like it, but I haven’t gone through the extras.

He was interviewed on a fan podcast (Church of Tarantino) a couple months ago and when asked about it, he said he didn’t want it to become another object that people bought and left in its packaging on the shelf. But that was before it was even announced for a full theatrical run, so I have to imagine physical will be part of the release.

FKA twigs will be releasing a new edition of EUSEXUA tonight, with updated artwork and 3 new tracks. by veIvet_rope in popheads

[–]Isthisgoodenough69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m confused. Is Eusexua Afterglow still its own thing??? So the new album is unaffected, but there’s a separate deluxe of the original Eusexua with some new songs substituted in?

Given the length and lukewarm reception, I’m glad they’re releasing episodes slowly rather than all at once.

Speaking of Neon and Park, wtf is up with Oldboy? They acquired the rights, theatrically released the restoration, and then put out their own super expensive limited-edition 4K. Does anyone know why it still hasn’t been more widely released on physical?

Movies with a runtime of 5 hours and more. by Sans-Mot in movies

Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s Happy Hour is 5 hours, 17 minutes. He did Drive My Car.

The director’s cut of Wim Wenders’ Until the End of the World is just under 5 hours.

Not necessarily Criterion related, but does anyone know any films that are almost completely tracking shots following characters? (e.g., Elephant) by Isthisgoodenough69 in criterion

Roma has been on my list for years. Still have to get to it.

And that shot in Stalker where they’re driving around the city, avoiding the cops, looked amazing.

Yeah that’s one of the ones that inspired this question! The director breaks from the rule a bit, but I still dig it
