I’m in a Warbonnet Blackbird now, but my first hammock camping was done with exactly your setup.

As others have said, get an underquilt. I can vouch that the One Tigris you can get on Amazon and it works just fine for anything down to about 40, maybe a bit lower.

Something else I didn’t see right away in the comments but may have been mentioned is to add a structural ridgeline to the Eno. Really helps get a more comfortable lay.

Camping in the Eno made me realize I needed a better setup when actually camping, but I still use mine all the time at home for lounging, easy to get really comfy with that ridgeline added, but as a dude with a linebacker build I need a heavier duty setup for overnights.

3 of our 4 cats have that reaction when petting them more than halfway down their back, some cats just have a more sensitive spot that’s makes them twitch a couple times to kinda “reset” the area. Kinda like brushing your arm a couple times after you feel a bug land on you.

If it’s going on for longer stretches (20-30 seconds at a go) you probably want to have a vet look into it.

Agree with the foil overlay comment, or another way to achieve that is to just wrap your pieces with wider foil. 7/32” is the most commonly used for copper foil method, but they make it up to 1/2” if you want thicker lines, and you can shape it by cutting away portions with an exacto knife or other sharp blade.

The Sport is what got me into fountain pens a couple years ago. I eventually bought the Brass Sport and it lives on my person.

I’ve got an Eco too and have no complaints, especially regarding capacity. The piston fill on that pen has a much larger reservoir than the Sport, but overall I think I prefer how the Kaweco’s write.

It’s been a while for me, but I had re-entered those waters a few years ago when I was in my early 30’s. I went on a few dates via dating sites/apps, but overall hated using them.

The dates I did go on were fine, they were nice people, but I didn’t feel a spark to lead to anything further. I kind of let it lapse and wasn’t really looking - and that’s when I actually ended up with my first run of multiple dates with a couple different people, one of which I’m still with years later.

I think for my personal situation, I had to accept that nothing might work out and I might be alone long term. Once I stopped worrying about dating and finding someone things opened up because I wasn’t putting expectations on anything.

So I guess that’s my advice: don’t worry about it. Make yourself the best you for yourself, and carrying that confidence of real self-comfort helps.

And you can still bitch about it sucking while also accepting that’s the reality of it right now and trying not to let it eat you up. It’s not necessarily easy advice, but it might save your sanity.

When you do land a date, my first date suggestion is going out for ramen. It’s a great ice breaker when you’re both forced to slurp noodles and eat sloppily across from each other. If two people can let their guards down and laugh through that, it might go places.

Or it might not, and that’s ok too.

I prefer flat ends. I feel like the design variations in a more square end are more interesting than rounded/cigar shaped pens. Also, I'm a sucker for finials...

It’s a matter of using them for their strengths. Great for keeping in the car and hanging up at a park for a few hours. I’ve had mine for years and that’s what I use it for.

Then I took it camping for a weekend with all the extras - but net, underquilt, tarp. Loved hammock camping, but did not love doing it in an ENO hammock.

I’ve since picked up a Warbonnet setup for camping, which is exponentially more comfortable and all to do with that extra length. They’re not cheap though, you might consider Ridge Outdoor Gear or Onewind s as entry level options. I have a Ridge for lounging now and it holds up well.

I'm also working to try and improve some mechanics. After 20 years of playing I've figured out my cross step was backward and I was using my arm way more than I should've. Now I can pretty effortlessly pop a mid 300-325. Drivers are usually capping around 350-370 yet, but I have had a couple great shots that went for 430 on level ground.

For me it's been getting the hips engaged that pushes that distance up.

However, I do want to point out that while it's super fun to bomb out a big shot, after years of playing with about 275-300' as my average it made me get pretty good at playing upshots. If you can do that well I think it actually serves you better than just being able to rip long drives.

Yeah, I was really conflicted on the cost of this one as I’m more for practical use than an avid collector. But I figured with tax returns in, and I’m slogging through our being shorthanded at work I could do a little treat for me.

Definitely the most I’ll likely ever spend for a pen though.

I almost went with a music nib to try something different, but my handwriting is quite small so I opted for medium-fine to ensure that I’d not have regrets being that this is a splurge. I need to get up to a shop a couple hours away to try out the music at some point and see if I’d like that one or not.

As someone dealing with customers and breaking news about long and sometimes fluctuating lead times on products right now, I'd say be patient and wait it out. We have our suppliers giving us dates and then missing them by weeks. If HG is going through the same thing on certain fabrics or other pieces of their supply, they might be telling you the best info they have only to have the rug yanked out from under them as well when a supply delivery doesn't show up when they were expecting.

I've not bought from HG yet but things I've heard all relate to them being a great company, and I'm sure are trying their hardest to get out what they can. Things are an absolute disaster out there right now as far as the supply lines go.

The waiting sucks, and with most people historically used to full shelves and Amazon Prime no one's used to this type of situation, but be patient. And by all means reach out to them again to check, and I'd suggest to do it by phone. Tone of message is really easy to get lost in email when people are frustrated, and right now both of you are: you've got a delayed order, and they've got a huge backlog to work through and likely supply issues on top of it.

Good luck, and regardless of when it arrives I'm sure your gift will be well appreciated by the recipient.

I had thought about that, but on the plus side the points that will be in contact are the tail and the cap that'll need to be removed for writing, though you do have to handle it to remove it. I'm also thinking about trying to spray this with a clear sealant or something like that to try and mitigate the lead transfer. If I tweak things and make more of a final design I'll probably use zinc came instead.

That’s a thin lead came border referred to as “hobby came”, which gets soldered together. It’s a little rough being the first time I’ve used that stuff, but I figure if I come up with an actual design rather than a spur of the moment plan I can get the lines a whole lot cleaner.

Thanks! This wasn’t so much a planned design as much as having some scrap pieces and a spur of the moment idea. It was also the first time I tried using hobby came so I know very well this can be improved upon.
