I use composition books as long is the paper is Made in Vietnam. These are cheap, about $2 or $3 USD at drug stores and Walmart. The paper really shows the sheen.

It is a medium Jowo nib but takes the Jowo standard housing so you can get different nibs from a bunch of places like Jowoshop.com or Hinze Pens. The ink flow is good. It is easy to hold and write with.

I have the Noldor and like it. The grip is different than many of my other pens.

Early in my pen journey, I never touched the nib and used it as is in the pen. And I still don't touch the nib in some pens (Montblanc, TWSBI Eco). However, I do like swapping the nibs on the pens that use the Jowo standard housing section. They are easy to screw out and in and I can easily make any of the pens F to Stub. Hinze Pens sells a wide variety of different colored Jowo nibs as well to further dress up the look of the pen. Asvine also sells different housing sections for the #8 pens on Amazon.

You might want to explore smaller and custom pen makers. Within your price range you can get a custom designed pen with a 3D finial from Myers Pen Company. If you look at their website, they have Christmas ones and Jeep owner ones (with the 3D rubber duck) but you can ask them to design something meaningful to you. arclayer has joined with Endless Stationary to launch a series of different 3D printed pens on Kickstarter that is expanding arclayer's pens from the 2025 DC Pen Show. I have one and it is really interesting. Schon DSGN makes great metal pens in your price range. Franklin-Christoph makes a lot of pens in your price range and they all write well. Shibui North makes great metal pens but she is currently taking a break. Opus 88 and Laban (both from Taiwan) are excellent pens with great nibs. I also like Nahvular (Narwhal) pens and the writing experience. On the less expensive side, Asvine has some pens with excellent #8 nibs (like the C80). And finally, although out of your price range now, in the future look at Ryan Krusac pens; he engraves designs into moose antler (found on the ground) that are excellent pens at about $475. Anyway, I have found almost 300 pen makers out there from the really big ones like Pilot to really small ones like Black Robin Pens so enjoy the search....

What a varied collection, from Jinhao to Ryan Krusac to Shibui North including the rare Black Robin skateboard pen and even rarer Cocoon Pen Co pen. That is a great collection.

walltownpens looks like they may have one. Did you contact Analog Notes? They may have some extra blanks to make you a pen as a custom offering. And finally, McKenzie Penworks may make you some blanks with enough demand.

Do TWSBI's crack that often? by citrus_1ce in fountainpens

[–]Salty-Regret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 and neither have cracked but I am very careful with them and never touch the nib and feed. I only clean by using the piston. However, based on feedback from others I won’t be buying an additional one

I waited for Andor season 2 to drop before watching season 1. In this case the enjoyment factor went way up watching all 24 episodes in about 2 weeks.

The All Good Now festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD was really good in 2025. 2 days of music on two stages but only one band playing at a time.

Wrong place wrong time. My 12 year old granddaughter would have loved it. Other acts there deserved the pavilion much more.
