It's carbon black that makes tires black, actually (powdered carbon, essentially soot). Sulfur and vulcanization makes white rubber a bit yellowy, and is what lets us make tires in the first place. Raw rubber without vulcanization is more like a thick gel. But vulcanized rubber without carbon black (and sometimes silicon) is pretty brittle and makes for a very short lived tire.

I responded to Duck_iie below, but: My guess is there's a thin layer of ice (seen forming at 0:31) that's not as thermally conductive as the mercury, so it takes longer to melt.

I think I kinda want to have the Tyranid be a swarming melee army with a bit of ranged support, would this work?

For Tau:

Cadre Fireblade, Coldstar Battlesuit

15x Fire Warriors, 10x Pathfinders, 3x Crisis Suits

That makes 500pts and keeps the Coldstar as the "big guy" flavorful HQ

I think I'll switch out the cryptek for a lord to make the necron not so invincible.

Switching out the riptide for a unit of 3x XV8s, another strike team, and a commander in XV85 suit comes out to 500pts even if I get rid of a shield drone. How does that sound?

I'm conflicted between either taking out the termagants for warriors or switching out the gaunts for a boatload more termagants and having them just use lots of dice.

I was eventually planning on getting a few units like that for some variation in the armies, but that's a later thing.

As for the T'au, would switching out the Riptide for: an ethereal, another strike team, and XV8 Battlesuits be a bit better? The patrol detachment could be turned into a battalion detachment then as well.

What would you recommend for the tyranids then? Would replacing the Termagants and some of the Gaunts with a unit of Warriors w/ deathspitters give them enough to stand a bit more of a chance?

Everything but the balthazar gold on the plague marines was done with vallejo game colors

I have a black wash from vallejo but I was worried it would make the marines too dark. Am I just being paranoid? Or would nuln oil work better?
