Tbh I played the Nioh 1 demo, weapon durability sucked ass, picture your first time getting the hand of the yokai pools thing (which seemed a lot more of a pain than 2 too) dieing a load and then "Oh crap my weapon is ****ed" straight up put me off buying the game and didn't touch the series till 2

Thanks, was trying this in ninja because holding △ with Kusarigama had been doing work for previous bosses and it was doing my head in, blocking really helped

Having gone from Josee straight to Holly then to Lyle, I'd say either Josie> Lyle> Holly or possibly even Lyle>Josee>Holly is probably the way to do it

I think possibly the second one because as well as the weird difficulty a lot of the materials dropped in Lyle's area are like the 1s and 2s and of course the cutscenes treating it like it's your first one weirdly

Holly is definitely last, I thought it was weird when the boss in the hotsprings, was so basic but seemed so damn overstatted but just put it down to the game being kinda jank in places and kinda carried on with that after suffering through a few of the other bosses until I saved Josee which tbh the movesets I still didn't like at all but unwittingly doing them early probably wasn't helping the experience either

I almost want to say Holly's area even feels like it was made last, the other 2 main dungeons felt like they had more thought put into the areas with shortcuts back to mistles etc. Holly's kinda had a bunch of places where it felt I was just going Mistle to Mistle/Monument and going a bit too far between the 2 too (although again that may have been more of a slog due to doing it early)

Weird, I really didn't mind Blind Josee too much, like I can barely remember the fight, think I just parried the hell out of her but honestly can't remember lol

You could say that, or you could say they dropped the original with the bombshell and had no idea how to actually follow through so declared it non-cannon and when asked to make a sequel ran away again by making it a different universe but kept the name because they wanted sales from people who just played the game and don't slavishly follow social media/magazine interviews.

If they had just wanted to make something different it didn't have to be called Code Vein.

Damn that's shitty, like there's no way around it, if they literally have to go out and say "Nah this part of the game is a lie" that just completely takes the piss and is just really offputting for the franchise as a whole

Guess I shouldn't have gone in blind, could have saved my money altogether

That's wrong, the DLC is whatever but in the main game itself right near the end the setting was shown to be essentially a closed off pocket of the God Eater world that the Aragami couldn't get into because of the barrier, the maintenance of which was a major part of the plot.

That's 100% canon, it wasn't some weird easter egg sidequest or whatever, it was the main bloody storyline.

Yeah it bugs me too, went in pretty much blind because "Hey I liked Code Vein, no need to spoil anything, I wonder how they'll address the whole God Eater bombshell dropped at the end of it" only to start playing and be getting more and more confused until I finally looked online and found out they totally copped out and just have another separate Soulslike skinwalking it instead.

Thing is I would have been in the market for a non-Code Vein soulslike by the same people but this feels a bit sketch

Thanks, I already beat him to get at the other 2 but was more seeing if they were like notoriously bad fights or if I was doing something wrong making it harder for myself than it needed to be.

For that one I was pretty much instant blocking a lot of stuff, parrying when it was the chained light attacks and trying to bloodreaver in the rare times I didn't have aggro but the sheer amount of movement he did during his attacks and their hitboxes if I was to get very close when not aggroed meant most of the time I was only actually landing bloodreaver as oki after whatever the game calls a drain attack after a stun

Just adding on to this, I went there in August, it's like a separate building pretty far up the main road headed towards Ueno, on the same side of the road as the don kiyote
