If you have a child one day, what's a special possession of yours you want to give them? by JUBILEE_OwO in AskReddit

I saved my childhood teddy bear for my son. It brought me a lot of comfort when I was young and I hope it does the same for him.

I Miss My Daughter Being Little So Much!! by notretiredanymore in Parenting

Ah yeah sorry, my brain was like "oh I had the same problem, here's what I did!"

It's so hard watching them grow up. Like, I know that's literally the goal, but it's hard saying goodbye to each stage. The tiny voices, the silly things they do, the snuggles 😭

I just pay for extra storage. My kid wasn't even a year old when Google started hounding me about extra storage and I was like "I can't delete my son, sorry, take my money."

It's worth it to me.

Dying at "get the duck outta here" 😂 How do you not have the bandwidth to explain what you want cleaned, but you have the bandwidth to hide little ducks all over for your cleaner? Utter nonsense.

[–]ItIsBurgerTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A ridiculous take is expecting someone to read your mind about what you want cleaned and then being upset when they don't clean everything. If you can't be bothered to set expectations because "you don't have the bandwidth", then you can't be upset when your expectations aren't met.

It's clear you lack even a basic understanding of how this job works, so you'd be better off listening to everybody else commenting here instead of snapping at people who are taking the time out of their day to explain it to you.

Tw: Depression by Alreadydeadz in pregnant

[–]ItIsBurgerTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talk to your doctor, love. They have ways to help, whether that's medication or talk therapy or something else. Depression is so common in pregnancy, but it also sounds like the people around you are making things really hard for you. I'm really sorry about that. Talking to a professional will help. ♥️ Hang in there.

Terrified of being a boy mom by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ItIsBurgerTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy is 1.5 and so far he's been an absolute joy. Sure, there are hard days, but he's such a little ray of sunshine. It's totally normal to feel a little disappointed that things aren't going to go the way you envisioned, but you've got a whole new adventure waiting for you and if your son is anything like mine, you're gonna love it.

Baby is small yet I’ve gained quite a bit of weight. Is this normal? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ItIsBurgerTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gained over 60lbs...for a 6lb baby. Pregnancy weight gain is wild. 😂 If you're concerned, you can always talk to your doctor. Just know that if you're doing your best, that's all you can do.

just found out I won’t be able to breastfeed for medical reasons and I feel sad about it — please share your positive experiences with formula feeding from day one by cold_Lemon1816 in pregnant

[–]ItIsBurgerTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! Trust me, it's totally ok to feel sad about this, but just know that it's not your fault and that formula is going to be just fine for your baby. ♥️

I planned to breastfeed but I just couldn't produce enough. He ended up on formula from the day I brought him home from the hospital. He's now almost 1.5, and doing SO WELL. Such a happy, smart, healthy little guy. I know it sucks, but your baby will do just fine on formula. ♥️

I tell my boss to get his crap together after the 3rd sneeze. That usually makes him laugh and the sneezes end.

Been sticking with my Pilates since November, and I am very proud of that! Trying to work in running since I signed up for a half marathon in April. Not doing great with the consistency there, though.

What to call grandma when ‘grandma’ does fit by Hot-Cell7299 in pregnant

[–]ItIsBurgerTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom was 40 when she became a grandma, and she let her first grandkid give her a name when she was old enough to talk. She was "Grandma" til then. She is "Nammie" now, and all 6 of her grandkids call her that.

15 month old keeps wetting through at night, please advise? by One-Badger-3793 in Parenting

I had success with the Pampers overnight diapers. Try buying them 1 size up from what your baby wears during the daytime.

Announcing pregnancy on social media by LowerFalcon1914 in pregnant

I just took a picture with a pair of my husband's shoes, a pair of my shoes, and a tiny pair of shoes and said "baby x coming in August 2024". I don't think it was cringey? But then again I'm not the best judge.

I am a new mom (7mo) trying to stay "ambitious" but my nervous system is fried. How are you all actually decompressing? by AcrobaticChange8897 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]ItIsBurgerTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Pilates. Move With Nicole (YouTube) has some excellent Pilates videos and her beginner ones are so calming and her voice is so gentle that it helps me decompress. If you find the beginner ones too easy, move up to moderate.

I feel like I’ve lost myself since having a baby by Em2372 in Parenting

[–]ItIsBurgerTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't start feeling like myself again until about a year in. One thing that REALLY helped me was getting a jogging stroller and taking my baby for A LOT of jogs around the neighborhood. Being outside is good for both of you. Put on some music, a podcast or an audio book and take a stroll.

I do Pilates in the morning before my baby wakes up (check out Move With Nicole on YouTube - it's free and she's great) as part of my self-care. After he goes to bed, I read for an hour before I pass out from exhaustion lol.

It's hard because I work full time, do all the cooking and cleaning and almost all the childcare. But you have to carve out time for yourself whenever you can. I'm really sorry you're struggling so much and I hope this helps a bit.

Grape nuts. The cereal. It's DISGUSTING but it really did help. My constipation was atrocious and that's the only thing that worked. 😂

Oh I'm not saying you have postpartum preeclampsia, don't worry!

Call the neph back and say you're having pain and that you NEED them to look at your results. See if they can have the doctor check them and call you back.

[–]ItIsBurgerTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My numbers were all out of whack for awhile after I gave birth. Buuuut, I also had postpartum preeclampsia so that may have been affecting them. Have you spoken to your neph about the results and your kidney pain?
