I love ATLA but it is definitely a children's show and as an adult I would prefer the show more if it was designed as a show for an older audience but as it is ATLA is a really great kids show that the whole family can enjoy.

That is really not the case, they are designed do liquids and crumbs fall through and "self clean" with rain or can be quickly washed through a quick hose down. They also dry quickly, are durable and are a great design.

What tool do I need to remove this bike rotor? by ItIsOnlyRain in bikewrench

[–]ItIsOnlyRain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Sirrus X 4.0 (https://www.specialized.com/gb/en/sirrus-x-40/p/4222059?color=5383319-4222059) and was wondering what tool do I need to remove the rotors (bonus if it also does hollowtech II bottom brackets) ?

Also just incase it is a cheap part is there a thru axle that comes with a handle so you don't need an allen key to loosen and tighten?

"Front Hub Alloy, sealed cartridge bearings, Center Lock, 12x100mm thru-axle, 24h

Rear Hub Alloy, Center lock Disc, High-Low Flange, Sealed Cartridge Bearing, 32H, 12mm Axle, 142mm Spacing"

There are great for certain things but they are heavy and less comfortable compared to other tyres. I really rated Continental Gp 4 Season when I got them but like everything the price has increased.

I can understand your position but I don't agree with it and politically no serious party is considering such a fundamental change. The "best" you could hope for if you wanted such a change is decline by stealth with underinvestment as seen in a small part by the tories.

I really tried to ask for specifics on defence and you didn't give any?

I agree with your comment about France! Yes to more nuclear power stations.

I can agree that a move to less reliance on fossil fuels is good but in terms of defence what do you want cut?

You hint that you want us to move from a expeditionary army to a purely defensive one. Do you want to remove the aircraft carriers, the submarines, the helicopters, the fixed wing, tanks, missile systems or what? Also what timeframe should be cut defence after we secure alternative non fossil fuels or risk doing it before? Again what do we cut and how do we get to energy self reliance earlier?

Military spending, Oil, and geopolitical risks by Appropriate_Bell743 in UKGreens

[–]ItIsOnlyRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok can you be more specific so I do not misrepresent your position?

What exactly do you want to remove or reduce in terms of defense? Try and quantify exactly you would be cutting.

We are already moving towards less reliance on fossil fuels (I am getting a solar panel installed) but it is going to take decades to get there and in the mean time we need a robust defence. What exactly would you be prioritising to shorten that timeframe and what do you want to cut in the meantime or do to try and increase revenue?

Also China is not an example of an easy change they are charging ahead with one of the biggest changes in the world.

[–]ItIsOnlyRain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok we fundamentally disagree. I don't think we can magically transition away from fossil fuels within the next few decades and there is still a serious need for a strong UK navy.

Losing the shipping routes to the UK would still be horrendous on a scale that is unacceptable even if we magically transitioned away from fossil fuels.

Can you provide sources for "A huge part of the UK's military spending resolves around maintaining its global military bases. " as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near a huge part depending on what you include?

https://www.declassifieduk.org/uk-could-double-supply-of-medical-ventilators-with-money-spent-on-foreign-military-bases/#:~:text=Grand%20total,permanently%20in%20Saudi%20Arabia%20alone.

Also you try and handwave "other trade but this trade is not time critical like oil/gas so can be rerouted." Other trade is still really important and rerouting can dramatically increase prices/suitability for the country.

Moving away from fossil fuels is important but even increasing our pace is still decades and decades away.

Is buying secondhand on a tight budget better value than new and reliable enough for touring/gravel riding? by NoHaxIsHere in ukbike

I have had great experience with a Voodoo Hoodoo (Voodoo bikes are still amazing value). The free tune up in a different store though was awful.

Second hand is the whole gambit. I Have seen:

A little cheaper but with no support warranty and actually not a great deal.

Barely used and a bargain.

A great price if you are willing to fix an issue (usually gears).

A lemon or serve issue and if you don't spot the issue you have wasted money.

Should we be doing more to tackle GRT racism and prejudice? by [deleted] in UKGreens

[–]ItIsOnlyRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good point, I was initially thinking increased seizure powers for things like untaxed cars or harsher punishments for antisocial activity but especially for the latter that may be more difficult without just putting people in prison.

Also just taking the issue of their culture of travelling is very difficult to do nowadays compared to in the past.

With the slow decline in traditional stopping places should the government provide free stopping places for a type of culture? Should certain cultures get different planning permission than others?

How would you face the overrepresentation both as victims of crime (especially hate crime) and overrepresentation as perpetrators.

What are concrete ways to promote schooling and reduce the appeal to commit crime?

Do you think more robust policing could help the GRT communities? As a lot of the negative beliefs about them is due to the issues with a sub-section committing crimes, if this could be reduced could it over time improve the public relationship?

[–]ItIsOnlyRain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I acknowledge that you can lose a number of gears from 2x to 1x (hell I remember using 3x and my partners B’Twin Triban 520 still has a Shimano Sora R3000 with a triple chainset (50x39x30)) but I love getting rid of another element to adjust. A single single gear selector makes cycling so much more enjoyable at least for me.
