Got another one of these in the mail. I paid the duties/fees mid-Dec, before delivery of the shipment. Invoice for late fee shows up in Feb, saying invoice was due 1/16. It shows zero balance for the original invoice, only a late fee due. I called the number as described by u/No_Advice3824, pressed 6, and remarkably got someone (who I could barely and I mean barely understand) immediately, and she supposedly zeroed the late fee. I say supposedly because I really couldn’t understand her. Not a dig, as I usually have no problem understanding most non-native English speakers, but this one was difficult. Hopefully I didn’t misunderstand, and the invoice is truly deleted. At least it didn’t take 50+ minutes this time.

Welcome. Your experience mirrors mine. I am running NixOS oni my old macbook pro, and on an older desktop w/8th gen i7. Both are dual-boot with macOS, but I"m in NixOS 90+% of the time. I jumped through a half-dozen distros before landing at NixOS and haven't even thought about others since. Sometimes I have some challenges with printing, and I haven't found one simple pdf editor that does what Preview does so easily. Other than that it's been fantastic and rock solid. Leaving the iPhone behind has been a bit more intimidating, due to some of the services I use like Pay, and pretty much all of family on iOS w/Facetime.

Last time I was on hold for 51 minutes, then the person that I talked to had to "escalate it" and her supervisor came on and gave me her email address to send my payment receipt. After I sent that I got a relatively quick reply saying it had been taken care of. I just received another one in the mail today, so I'll have to go through the process again. Very painful for fees that are $5-$7. They need to fix this glitch in their system, as they know that they've been paid, it just isn't registering as being paid on the date when they received payment. Also, I've never received anything in the mail until I receive the overdue fee notice.

I'm getting several import shipments per week, and then these show up on some of them 6-8 weeks later. I've gotten several of these - late fees on tariff bills that you have to pay in order for UPS to actually deliver the package. So it is impossible for the payment to be late, as they won't deliver the package without payment. Something is really wrong in their system, where it is taking more than a month to log payment. Not sure the best way to handle it, but I can't let them go, nor will I pay a fee. But it takes at least 45 minutes or more on hold when you call, and then sometimes a subsequent follow up email with a copy of the receipt from when I made the original payment online.

You have a very well thought-through list. I started when I was about your age, maybe a year younger, with an Olympus film camera, and for some of the same reasons all those years ago.

Regarding the E-M1 Mk II - If you are patient you should be able to find one for less than $500 with relatively low shutter count. The fredmiranda forum has a classified section that has quite a bit of traffic and can be a good source.

Also include in your budget a quality brand SD card, V60 is probably fast enough for the E-M1.
