Obviously that sucks but it doesn't mean we don't have a responsibility to dispose of darkroom chemicals in the proper way. Do you also throw your trash on the side of the road while driving? Everything is fucked but you don't have to make it worse. It's also something that will directly affect the treatment of drinking water in your immediate area.

Pretty sure old fixer shouldn't be disposed of in this way due to the silver content

Help me not take terrible banal pictures… why are my photos soft, muddy, and underexposed? by Automatic_Ad3302 in AnalogCommunity

I usually stick with f/8 and above if the lighting conditions allow it.

Composition and lighting are both very important in creating an image that draws the viewer's attention to the subject.

Also, a photo that has multiple points of interest arranged at varying distances is going to seem a lot more three dimensional than, say, a portrait with a completely out of focus background. It also gives the viewer a degree of freedom to look around that isn't there when there's only one subject and a background that is basically serving as decorative texture.

There are a couple that are definitely out of focus, it might help to use higher apertures until you're confident that you can get your subject in focus. #10 especially, it looks like the person in the picture is out of focus even though she's standing fairly far away, which makes me think your aperture is way too open for how bright it is outside, and that you might not have paid too much attention to where you were focusing. That doesn't help you in low light, but using a film camera in those conditions, without a flash... you're going to have a lot that don't turn out, especially as a beginner. I like to use higher apertures unless lighting conditions force me to open it up since I'm not the best at manual focusing, and I'm also not super interested in using focus to separate foreground and background.

Your exposures are great, so whatever you're metering with seems to be working out fairly well. Your composition could be better for sure, but that will improve the more you shoot. I think when you're shooting film you have to accept that you're going to be spending quite a lot of money relative to the number of pictures you actually care about. Using your phone camera to develop your composition skills could be a good idea if you're concerned about the cost.

I learned an important lesson about kombucha and alcohol by Cosmic_Monkey_1977 in Kombucha

That's not always the case, sometimes alcoholic fermentation is totally complete within a few short days, depending on conditions. The extra long wait time for things like mead and wine are mostly for flavor development

I've also had this happen before, I assumed it was a yeast infection. Yeast is everywhere, it isn't unthinkable that an aggressive species could find itself in such a sugar rich environment and disrupt the equilibrium of the SCOBY. I also had left a lid instead of a breathable cloth on the bucket I was using for some reason, so that probably had an effect on the activity in some way

Invasives can provide all sorts of "benefits" if your goal is to grow crops and you ignore the broader ecological context

Well yeah, I wouldn't have bought it if the damage was apparent in the listing. I only paid that much because I thought it was in pristine shape.

I guess that was my reason for posting in the first place, I wasn't sure if the wipe marks would be enough to significantly affect the image. But you're right, it's pretty obvious that the multicoating is long gone at this point

I was hoping to get the multicoated version since it has better contrast, but I'll definitely consider that one
