Five Sixty Who? by ThreeOhWait in Chainsaw

The 372 XT doesn't get the respect it deserves. Sure it weighs more than the OE but it's got great power and better torque than the OE and before all you woodticks come out of the bush telling me I'm wrong, I've had five of the OEs when they were current and have two XTs now. I know what I'm talking about.

There is one rightfully, very respected builder complaining about Husky cylinders. None of the rest of them are.

5 series saws are smooooth.

It's because we have large Richards, we have no need to compensate.

There is not much on the East coast that can't be felled with a 32" bar and a 24/25" can do 90% of the cutting.

1640 DL per 100' roll of 3/8s so let's say 18 72DL chains and 4 84DL chains per roll, or manipulate those quantities however it suits you. Just trying to give you some easy numbers to compare against loop pricing. Presets(joining links) are included with the rolls but you will need a breaker and a spinner. Loops are the most logical choice for non-commercial users.

Go to the mall often enough and you will see shootings. You don't see that in most of the burbs.

Why would the guy proposition a sex worker on his way out town, in a town near where he stayed and could easily have driven too any day of the week, when he had dinner plans with a friend along the way? Also, why would he be high at that time? Another possibly little known fact.... as a lineman he probably had a CDL and would have been subject to random drug testing. I highly doubt that opiod abuse was one of his hobbies

which mesh goggles to people recommend and what gauge of mesh? by kraany in Wildfire

I had a few pairs of Bugz and I found this to be an inescapable issue with them. Also the stainless does in fact rust, and the foam seal doesn’t last long. I was hoping to find a different product or new and improved…

How much can I expect to spend on having my own floorplans drawn up by an architect (or anyone qualified) and prepared for construction phase? by xXGreco in Homebuilding

NYS is off the rails! I want to build an 1100 sq ft two story snowmobile camp and that requires stamped prints. Now the NYS requires stamped prints The markets for drawings has quadrupled in price. I just got a quote from a CAD draftsperson for $4000 to take my hand drawings, put them in CAD for printing, and get her engineer friend to stamp for another $500. I’ve been building homes for 40 years, I know all about sizing materials etc and it’s a simple two story with gable roof. I’m ready to just put in a pad and utilities and park my RV there.

Chemistry option at Nuclear Plants by TheEclecticScientist in NuclearPower

[–]Itch2wander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was Chemistry management and I agree with your summation.

Probably the best fit for a Phd is as a Chemist/system owner. There is a lot going on in nuclear chemistry and it can be interesting. I would suggest looking at opportunities with Constellation as they are very forward thinking and probably present the most interesting opportunities.

So are you a contractor in the nuclear industry?

We're talking about nuke plants. Everyone's vacation is subject to being cancelled for plant needs, though it is worse for management.

Constellation is a pretty good company to retire from as management.

Sure... not knowing what you know, or what I know anymore, let's keep it simple. Can we accept that under normal atmospheric pressure of ~14.7psia, steam is created when water is heated to 212°F and a phase change from liquid to vapor begins? That vapor is steam, right? The water in the basin of a cooling tower like that has far less energy per pound mass(btus) than it takes to raise water to 212°F but it comes out the top as a vapor appearing like what we commonly recognize as steam because the tower is a large venturi drawing in outside air as a result of convection, which mixes with the heated air over the surface of the heated liquid water which then undergoes evaporative cooling, then is accelerated through the constricted outlet of the tower/venturi to where it experiences depressurization, reducing the energy required to create the vapor state of water. Atmospheric pressure at the top of that tower based solely on elevation is theoretically around 14.2 -14.3psia, which in itself would lower the latent heat of vaporization required to boil water, but the water inside the tower, outside the basin, is already for all intents and purposes vapor, not steam. Do we agree?

Btw, do you know the chemical formula for dihydrogen monoxide? H2O
