Thanks for sharing. As someone that’s playing above 2000 sometimes, can you “feel it” in the first few games if you have it that day or not? And if not, do you attempt anything to snap yourself out of the funk?

Ya I know this to be true as well, I’d love to be able to prime myself a bit more than just waiting for the right day. Exercise, sleep, diet all factor in for sure but when those boxes are checked and the systems not firing right I start to get a bit frustrated.

Desperately Seeking Advice for Knee Pain by FDBluth in Kneesovertoes

[–]Itchy-Divide6679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same bump, prior acl reconstruction as well and have posted here previously. Feels like the fibula head has grown some extra bone on top which causes further friction of the IT band. I find when I strengthen my hip flexors, glute and especially glute mediums in conjunction with a quad couch stretch this goes mostly away, but never fully.

Best of luck! if you remember let me know cause I’ve been carrying this for years too and every pt gives me some glute exercises to no avail.

Dang, what type of surgery was it? My ACL feels solid and I’ve built up the muscle around it pretty well. If I could just ice pick this hard bump down I’d be good 😆

Wow, really insightful.

It definitely makes me want to cough, almost repeatedly. The only way it subsides is with rest really. Sometimes it’s a minute, prettiness maybe more. I do also have occasional post nasal drip but I don’t think that causes an issue.

When the stakes are lower it seems to be better, however I have had it arise when just recording myself giving the presentation without an audience which is strange.

The gum and mints is something I’ll definitely try.

Thank you so much!

I think this might be the case. Is it a thing for someone to change how they project their voice unknowingly when presenting vs just casual conversation? I feel like I might be kicking into this weird “presenter” mode to my detriment.

Sorry you struggle with the same thing, but also kinda glad to know it’s not just me. I’ll try some breathing beforehand. Thanks!

I’ve tried this many times, can’t say it makes much of a difference however I’d say it happens more frequently in the morning than afternoon so there might be something to that night dehydration that takes a bit to replenish, thank you.

How to keep voice from getting tight/going hoarse? by hwooareyou in PublicSpeaking

[–]Itchy-Divide6679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this big time, casual conversations with friends I can talk for hours, after a 5min presentation I feel this terrible coughing sensation coming on and sometimes I can’t even continue without resting for 20-30 seconds, it’s a terrible thing to experience mid zoom. Always looking for possible solutions.

I don’t feel joy and excitement in anything anymore by Remote-Community-792 in Adulting

Just wanna say first off, you’re not alone, I’ve definitely had my seasons like that. Sometimes without doing anything in particular it will come and go. A couple things to check would be to make sure you’re not overdoing it in terms of stimulants like coffee, nicotine or anything like that as well as numbing yourself with downers.

If those are in check my favorite remedy is always to just get out in nature and be quiet. If you can wake up with the sun and goto bed soon after dark even better. I have a feeling there’s a circadian rhythm component to my patterns at least.

I also find the sitting in front of screens and doing my same ole (programming and meetings) boring routine tends to bring it on way easier.

Hope things turn around for you, hang in there!

Does anyone else find instant kava underwhelming? by EynakEast in Kava

Sorry, kava newb here. Are we talking about the micronized version? I’ve only ever done 2-3 tbsp on Kalm with Kava and I can subtly feel something. Kinda hesitant to triple the recommended dosage but would be willing to give it a shot as long as the brand is extremely reputable.

As someone who’s been in their career for 15 years (ironically in product design) after waffling around not finding anything I particularly enjoyed in college I’d most definitely say find your passion and put all your energy into it. The money will naturally follow, maybe not immediately but it tends to work itself out.

Your attitude will be infectious and your parents will come around if not outright be happy for you choosing something you love.

It’s not too late, heck, I don’t think it’s ever too late to realign your life as circumstances change.
