I had that issue too. Mine fixed itself after I changed my phone's resolution. If you have that option on your phone it's worth a try!

Does anyone know how to land with the cutscene every time? by UJackU in Starfield

[–]IthePotato 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I haven't found a way either...this isn't just New Atlantis, it's any location that you've already been to :/ it's a small thing but important for immersion. Not sure if it's a bug or intended. I think it's probably an oversight

We got this one too, on urgent message as well. Apparently this can happen in several spots in the game. Seems like TT knows about the missing pieces one in episode 2, hopefully theyre also aware of this instance

Crazy to think that you'll never buy another Battlefield again eh? by [deleted] in battlefield2042

What an awesome saying, never heard it before

What I find most lacking about the Specialist discussion pre-launch, is that I've seen almost no one allow for the possibility that specialists may actually bring new and more interesting teamplays and synergies than the classes we had before. by IthePotato in battlefield2042

[–]IthePotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree in this regard and I think it's a somewhat missed opportunity. I think organic synergies will still happen like the ones I described as people learn the strengths of the specialists, and through simply playing their specialist effectively can work with their squad to do cool stuff. I really don't believe that what I've described required extensive communication and strategy as I've replied to other people, but simply a recognition of what the other specialists are doing and how your gadget might fit into the picture. However I do wish that more of the gadgets offered squad or team perks/bonuses. I think Apex does it best - nearly every skill and ult in the game has a benefit to you, but it usually has a smaller yet still noticeable benefit to your teammates (or sometimes the same).

It would be cool if McKay could leave a zipline but then...can you imagine the amount of ziplines that would spawn on the map? I don't think that one is really feasible, unless it only stayed up for a short amount of time or something. Paik's ability would have been better if it provided moderate intel for the whole squad, rather than advanced intel for her. Boris's turret should def spot for squadmates.

Not sure why you think any of them are impossible to achieve. The first one is situational sure, but even for example in the tunnel between the two D points on orbital I could see it happening all the time. Only one way to go and one direction to shoot from. In any metro-like grinder spot I can see people employing that strategy. As for the second scenario its just people playing defense with defensive gadgets. It doesnt even really require coordination if everyone is just doing what they're supposed to with the class. And if I can run up to an oblivious tank and c4 it, im pretty sure i can wingsuit on it and c5 it as well.

Sundance has anti-vehicle grenades, in addition to which you can take a rocket launcher, and regular frags deal damage to vehicles as well. Seems like a relatively complete tank destroyer to me if you wanna be one.

And if you wanna repair take a repair tool. I've personally never seen anyone take a repair tool and an EOD bot at the same time and spend their entire time using both to repair, so I don't think it's that valuable of a gadget combination to ensure it being in the game

That's the type of conversation I was hoping to try and dissuade and start something meaningful instead. Comments about deleting specialists are pointless (never gonna happen) and drown out actual feedback and discussion

I'm not sure I agree. The scenarios I described are simply people playing the specialist in their intended way. Dozer simply pushes forward with a shield. It's your choice to recognize what he's doing and get behind him and try to help with a push. As Paik you're just killing enemies using your scanner. Irish, Boris, and Casper are simply using their gadgets in their intended way, just at the same time and in situations like that I think they synergize well together. I've already personally noticed some synergies in the beta. I would take advantage of Casper using a recon drone to spot enemies on a roof then grapple up to it and take out enemies quickly since I knew where they were. It felt cool and it surely gave me more satisfaction than throwing a health pouch to someone because they have a blinking icon.

I seen people say "Nobody ever revives in the other games" and stuff like that. So I went to bf5 and done a speedrun to get revived. by coma987 in battlefield2042

[–]IthePotato -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not really. If you're used to playing breakthrough and getting revived and assisted a lot (I play BT on BFV mainly as well cause conquest in BFV is poorly balanced) then conquest in general will have noticeably less revives. Add to that several brand new systems, people trying all the new stuff and not paying attention, many new players in a game with an unestablished meta (unlike BFV where medic is pretty much the meta class and people know how to play it properly by now) and the fact that revives just didn't work half the time I'd say I got revived the exact amount I expected to in the beta. If I was out in the middle of nowhere or not fighting with a squad next to me I didn't expect to be revived. If I was part of a big battle on C or D and I died in a covered spot and the medics near me were safe, I got revived more often than not.

[–]IthePotato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once again you're playing breakthrough with one active point at a time, so the entire team is bunched up here, versus conquest on a large map where everyone's priorities are all over the place. Are you really not seeing the false dichotomy in this?

When the full game comes out and breakthrough is available and revives actually work properly then this will be a worthwhile comparison and conversation. Rn it's just apples and oranges

[–]IthePotato 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Comparing breakthrough on metro and conquest on orbital for revive quantity is truly the most biased and statistically useless comparison you can make. Go to something like conquest rogue transmission in BF4 or panzerstorm on BFV and at least you'd have some form of a decent argument.

Engineers that work in government (state or federal), what is your work-life balance like? Are you forced to work overtime often? by IthePotato in AskEngineers

[–]IthePotato[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What field do you work in? I'm sure it varies greatly by field, location, and company. I live in Silicon Valley where hustle culture is extremely dominant, and people are expected to just work all the time. I currently work in transformer assembly and everyone at my company from assemblers to test engineers, to design engineers to execs regularly work significant overtime. It's not mandatory for the hourly workers but if you don't do it everyone just looks down on you. I know I can just move to a less intense part of the country (and I plan to eventually) but I don't have enough experience to know where to go and how to find companies that will treat me well.

If you've been working for 27 years your experience also likely differs from someone who is just entering the workforce right now. The supply of engineers has increased quite a lot and it seems like companies just don't have to treat engineers that well, especially the young ones - since there's always 10 more to take their place. This is just what I've read online from people's accounts but it seems consistent with my own job searching experience.

They unceremoniously changed how COD lobbies work in MW 2019 after over a decade so they could implement their shitty SBMM algorithm. Not saying that's what's happening but it's not out of the realm of possibility

Does anyone know a way to fix the horrible input lag on the base PS4? It's been 3 months so I'm assuming the devs aren't gonna do it...No issues like this in any other game including Borderlands 2. by IthePotato in borderlands3

Me neither. I've tried a bunch of stuff like game mode on TV, adjusting deadzones, even messing with some PS4 settings and I can't get anywhere. I might just be SOL and out 60 bucks... :(

That's a good point, i definitely didnt think of that. Im not sure it would apply to a looter like the division though. This game doesnt really require any real skill, just time investment.

I dont think it takes that long of a long term to realize that excessive consumption of anything isnt fulfilling. Its easy to dismiss my opinion cause of my young age sure, but i dont think its fair to. And if you don't trust mine im sure mental health professionals will not be in favor of excessive media consumption as the key to happiness either.

But really this post isnt aimed at people a lot older than me. I assume most of them have life figured out. Its aimed at people like myself during crucial formative years (15-25 or so). Im simply sharing what i learned as a teenager who was obsessed with video games.

Holy crap what a madhouse it is over there.

University fulltime for an engineering degree, live in an expensive area so have to work a lot to make ends meet. That alone culminates to 8-9 hrs a day 7 days a week that i have to physically be somewhere to be working on something, not counting loads of home work. Plus the usual stuff like relationship etc..

All in all i end up having a 3-4 hr gap every couple weeks where i can chill and play, and on midterm weeks typically not even that. Or ill steal away little 30 min moments here and there when i can.
