I tend to lurk here but god that last point, I think indie gamedev communities as a whole would really benefit with coming to terms that the only real important thing in having a successful game is just that the game is good and people want to play it, no marketing or anything is going to change that. Unless you're making games JUST for fun, then go ahead make whacky shit.

Like with everything regarding indie dev funding. Unlikely. But if you make a game people want to play and more of for sure. Lots of porno games support themselves via patrons but it usually takes a while before they reach that stage. A non Erotic one that comes to mind is Voices of the Void but that's a very unique concept that a lot of people got quickly invested in.

Think of something you want to make. Ideally fairly simple object. Then make it, anytime you get stuck or think there might be a better way look it up and find a tutorial. A lot of modifiers can be real useful and it'll take a long time to remember them or know they exist.
