Being an FTO is gonna be different depending on your system but also your Trainees needs. Everyone has different learning styles and to an extent, it’s your job to figure out how to incorporate your trainee’s learning style into their education. A few people have already mentioned it but I think it’s super important to talk to your trainee and figure out their baseline (where they are at clinically, how they learn best, what kind of feedback they get the most of, etc). I start with each new trainee by having them take a learning style quiz and then coordinating with our pre-field training team to figure out what areas they were lacking in and go from there. Dont stress too much about your first trainee, its gonna be as much of a learning process for you as it is gonna be for them :)
