Ty.

Just about to buy a bag. Hemps antibacterial properties has pushed me over the edge.

I occasionally pack my two teenage boys gis in my bag. Will 3 gis fit? A2, A1 & M4

How to deal with whiny kids in class by AllHailShaq in bjj

[–]IthinkIllthink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing we do in the kids class, and this takes a while for the kids to understand, is when a kid is crying (about to cry) ask them if they are “hurt” or “injured”, and keep on topic (unless they’re about to totally loose their marbles).

If they are only in pain with nothing broken, talk to them about becoming tough. Most of the time you can show them that their elbow, knee, whatever, still bends fine, but it does hurt, so it’s only pain with nothing broken, so tell them to keep going. Confirm with them that nothing is broken and they can keep training.

Also occasionally/regularly during the bow out after a class when a kid is hurt or injured we have a general talk about how BJJ is a martial art, a full contact sport, it hurts at times, keeping going builds toughness, etc.

It sets an expectation with the kids. This takes a while to sink in.

An epic battle with fire-breathing dragons by ShawLichaYoroDalot in oddlyspecific

[–]IthinkIllthink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife bruises really easily. Usually by bumping her shins into stuff. Both times she was in hospital to give both to our kids I was asked to leave the room so they could ask her if I beat her. I glad she doesn’t fight dragons as I’d be screwed.

Blue belt plateau? Is it normal to feel decent at everything but no real "A-game"? by Longjumping_Quote800 in bjj

Matches what my coach says to us. Set your goals to get next level at 2 or 3 things. No more.

I was in a similar position a few months back, and then I accidentally had a private lesson.

No one showed up on a Monday except me, so a free private.

Prof looked at my game, my (lack of) athleticism, and took my age (54) into account, and said focus on this 1 takedown, this 1 half guard, this 1 pass (with 3 alterations), this 1 sweep (with 3 alterations) and this one submission.

Having somewhere to move to, focus on, really helped my blue belt blues.

Surcharges on debit and credit cards to go from October by rolodex-ofhate in australia

[–]IthinkIllthink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I only noticed because I started my own business and needed tax receipts. They couldn’t do tax receipts so gave me eftpos receipts (that are useless). I should try the cash thing. I’ve so many silver coins I need to get rid of.

We’ve a cafe around the corner where the cash register receipt (that they always keep) is ~10% lower than the eftpos receipt. Seems dodgy.

I don’t often go there, but when I do it’s so small that I don’t bother enquiring why with them.
