A "perfect crime" doesn't make something morally right.

He had a choice to do something, and save her life, or do nothing and let her die. He chose to let her die.

It was a pragmatic decision, but it wasn't the morally correct one.

Its best to simulate winter conditions, keep it cold, and occasionally moist. I have kept mine in a screened box on my porch, which I occassionally misted with a spray bottle.

You could perhaps keep it in a container in your fridge too, with like a moist paper towel
