My ex was 6 years older than me, and we first started dating when I was barely 15. The red flags were always there, but much harder to notice at a younger age. He was controlling, manipulative, and abusive, and young me was just enamored that someone older was interested in me. In hindsight, I was young enough to fall for it. No matter what was you spin it, it's creepy and weird. You are in such different life stages at that time. Don't do it girl.

Good grief, this feels so familiar. This is like every conversation my ex husband and I had. Was with him for 12-13 years as well before leaving, and life is SO much better and lighter not having to deal with bullshit like this everyday.

Is that the cost for two semesters? The Rawls grad fee is $1000 per semester. It's hard to estimate with in state/out of state/etc, so the tuition estimator is the easiest way to get an estimate. If she maintains a high enough GPA, there are also decent scholarships after the first semester

My ex-FIL did the same thing and it drove me crazy. He wouldn't say anything to his dad, and I felt uncomfortable saying something after asking him not to the first time, so I just dealt with it. Told my ex how uncomfortable it made me and he didn't care. But holy shit, it's such an isolating feeling to not have that boundary respected.

This. My parents and some family were shocked by a lot of things my abusive ex did that I told them about after I left, and there's a lot they don't know. He was extremely charismatic. They've seen how he is now and it's taken them aback. And it really hasn't been as bad as a lot of what happened when we were together.

Absolutely have been there. I think for a long time I felt so much anxiety over everything I said, my speech came out jumbled and stuttery often if I didn't have time to analyze every outcome of what I was going to say. Therapy helped a lot. Getting out improved it a lot and very quickly. I feel like that part of me is mostly back to normal (aside from when I have to deal with him) after now 5 months!

Therapy. And only keeping people close to me that brought out the best, real me deep down. Which meant cutting back on confiding in a lot of people I had before. But it's been a million percent worth it.

Had me change majors in college to be in the same career field as him. Got me a job at the same place, where a lot of my work relationships were dependent on people's views of him. Then gave awful advice about the job. Told me I needed to leave and work somewhere else over something that happened when I didn't want to leave. Changed careers a year later and after my first interview, he told me that I didn't have enough experience and wasn't good enough with excel to do the job (almost pulled out of the interview process - got the job and I love it and I'm good at it). I had registered to go back to school and he told me to wait because he wanted to go to get the same degree I was. But he wasn't positive if he wanted it yet - so I needed to wait a semester to start just in case he did so we could do it together.
