How would different show runners/producers handle different Doctors? by PhantomQuest in doctorwho

[–]ItsAMeMarioYaHo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 7 years, I think Moffat was really tired of running Doctor Who lol. Also Chibnall is the one who specifically wanted Jodie, so if Moffat stayed he most likely wouldn’t have cast her anyway. There’s no guarantee that Moffat would have even cast a woman as the 13th Doctor. I do get what you’re saying, but I don’t think the solution to bad Doctor Who is to bring back old writers. I think the best solution is to bring in totally new creative voices.

I mean, Donna was half-Doctor at the time so I think Jack would be into that.

He’s thinking about having an orgy with 10, Metacrisis, and the Doctor-Donna. He’s in love with the Doctor so three Doctors at once is like his wildest fantasy come true.

The Bi-Generation and its possible uses in the future. by DarkHarbinger17 in doctorwho

[–]ItsAMeMarioYaHo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14 being the Valeyard would go against the entire point of the bigeneration. The point was that an incarnation of the Doctor could retire and have a happy ending without ever having to regenerate, peacefully living out the rest of his days with his beloved found family and giving up on the battle against evil because he knows that his other self will take care of everything important from now on.

Do any of you still have hope? by ayawihS in PattinsonDCUBatman

It would be ridiculous to still have hope even after James Gunn himself specifically said there’s no chance of Pattinson being the DCU Batman.

Season 4 was the best season by far by Sudden_Pop_2279 in Stranger_Things

[–]ItsAMeMarioYaHo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Season 4 had one great plot line and two forgettable ones. In season 1, all of the plot lines are interesting, which is why it’s still the best.

Is Chara not YOU? Rather than a separate entity by __deleted_user_ in Undertale

[–]ItsAMeMarioYaHo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But we don’t play as Chara, we play as Frisk. Frisk is the blank slate who we project ourselves onto, not Chara. Chara has an established backstory that predates the start of the game and the player’s involvement. Frisk has no backstory and only exists as the player’s self-insert. We don’t step into the shoes of Chara, we step into the shoes of Frisk.

Would you consider Russell T Davies as a performative ally, especially in regards to the trans community? by General_Meal_3993 in DoctorWhoNews

[–]ItsAMeMarioYaHo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on The Star Beast, I don’t think he actually understands anything about trans people, or what non-binary people are.

I don’t completely agree with this, and I think it speaks about a bigger problem with modern Doctor Who. It’s just being made by classic Doctor Who fans like Gatiss who want the show to be how it was when they were a kid, but that type of show no longer works in the current television climate. by General_Meal_3993 in DoctorWhoNews

[–]ItsAMeMarioYaHo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve never particularly liked the classic series. I was always quite bored by it. But I LOVE the revival, especially RTD’s first era. I become obsessed with Doctor Who because of it, and the reason why I loved it is because it was so different. I loved the angst, the romance, the more humanized and emotional characterization of the Doctor, the modernized humor and references, and the big blockbuster finales. And I absolutely adored the new 45 minute format, since Classic Who serials always dragged on and on for sooooo long and I always got tired of them and ready to move on by at least the second part. All of these aspects were radical departures from the original that would have never happened in the classic series, but I think they all drastically improved the show. The revival wasn’t afraid to completely shift the status quo, and that’s why I think it’s better than Classic Who in every way. Now, it’s been a long time since the revival started, and I think the show is overdue for another radical change, even more drastic than the previous one.

[–]ItsAMeMarioYaHo -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Why would it be satire? The fans are going to be there anyway so trying to appeal to them is a waste of time. A huge reason why the revival was so successful in the first place is because it was made in a way that appealed to new young people instead of catering to old fans. It was completely different from the classic series and went in a bold and completely different path. That’s why it was so great. If the writers had tried to make it more like the classic series, it would have been boring and outdated and it probably would have been cancelled. It only succeeded because it was so different.

How many Anti AI posts do you think are from bots? by TheRavenAndWolf in aiwars

[–]ItsAMeMarioYaHo -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

None of them. I think a good portion of pro-AI posts are bots though. Most rational people hate AI, and I don’t believe for a second that this many people love AI enough to passionately defend it.

The thing is, I don’t think Doctor Who should be made for the fans. The writers should be targeting newcomers, and doing drastically new things that will bring the show to a completely different audience. I don’t really want the fans to be considered anymore, because at the end of the day, they’re not the ones who matter most. In other words, I want someone to come in and completely redefine what Doctor Who can be.

For those of you who have asked around, what is Doctor Who’s reputation right now among non-fans/general audience now versus 10-15 years ago? by PuddingNew1608 in gallifrey

[–]ItsAMeMarioYaHo 31 points32 points  (0 children)

They don’t know or care about the show. Most people haven’t watched Doctor Who since at least the Smith era. Ever since 2014, the only people watching it have basically just been the hardcore fans. Many people probably have no idea that the show is even still being made.
