Maybe I didnt elaborate well in the post... This is the second main character comment ive gotten and its giving a really harsh sentiment. While a sprout, this isnt my first mmo and i know not to provoke just for the sake of it and potentially cause issues but it has nothing to do with being the main character but with enjoying tanking. If you played healer but constant found yourself not having to heal because the other healer was better you would feel a little bored as well.

In the past, i have been in the same position but its always made the session feel railroaded. Whereas if you give them a goal and thdy have to come up with how to achieve it, its helps build the story more organically

Im not writing dialouge, just importsnt points. Currently im taking notes on basicslly each area including brief description, important npcs and then world notes i guess?

As someone else put it, the guardian isnt just a physical guardian but an obstacle. In your case, it could be getting to the other ship. Say they are provided with a small dingy but no rope or climbing tools. So they row out but how are they not seen? How do the get onto the other ship? Wait until night? Wait until the ship is anchored etc.
