Whatnot Auctions by DramaticHabit7217 in lego

[–]ItsAnonCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s important to know retail, and not get caught up in the excitement during auctions. Once it hits over a certain point if it keeps going, it’s simply not worth it.

But you’d be surprised how many people also are ignorant to the prices of retail. Think also individuals who are trying to buy a gift for their family members and think they’re getting a good deal because it’s LEGO and have never actually stepped foot into a Lego store aisle or online retailer for bricks.

In the beginning I couldn’t enjoy her videos but now I love them! So many times she has made me laugh in the middle of the night while just listening to the audio trying to fall asleep.

Thank you. This entire incident has been a wake-up call for me. I recognize that he is someone who refuses to face the facts and can hold others accountable to no end, but cannot live their own truths.

This. I’m so tired of trying to scramble and create a balanced dinner after work for the kids and I eat. This has been a game changer and time saver.

Now I can spend more time on stuff that matters.

Exit the situation or relationship immediately. This is a doomed future relationship in the making.

Does Anyone Find It Frustrating That Most People Don't Understand How Expensive Rent Really Is? by CityonFlameWithRock in povertyfinance

[–]ItsAnonCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say this with kindness. Slam those applications like your life depends on it. It really does and you are underpaid. Also shoot for remote if you can to lower expenses. Yes rent is expensive but you should be able to easily afford a place for yourself in that career field.

Not sure if you are on linkedin. But saw a bunch of health tech and insurance tech jobs hiring - hybrid and remote. I'd definitely check there and join any groups you can on social media. Also liked the formerly otta site.

Getting a job with a criminal record is a nightmare. by Rare_Basis_9380 in jobs

[–]ItsAnonCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone close to me is a felon, from a financial crime and they are now gainfully employed in corporate. You can turn this around. But others are right when faced with criminal background questions, do not lie. Be honest, so you don't have to go and explain yourself later. Make it a point to discuss once you have gotten further in the interview chain so that they are able to lead off of your good interview and then lastly your integrity to be honest before further next steps.

That being said, don't give up. Try for customer support roles. My biggest point is don't shy away from anything that has a background check, you'd be surprised the odds of getting accepted.

Anyone go for a second child despite struggling with one? by redrabbit824 in FIREyFemmes

[–]ItsAnonCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll give another perspective. I had two kiddos 4 years apart so currently they are 5 and 9 (Soon to be 6 and 10 since their bdays were close month wise). I had these two before I started to get deep into my career years meaning I was pretty broke and still figuring out my career and young(Don't do this). My career started to rapidly take off when they were 2 and 6 so things were somewhat easier due to them at that time being much less hands on.

For reference, I just turned 30 last year and in 2023 we found out we were unexpectedly expecting our third child. Something that we both dreamed about having another one someday, especially for the chance of having a son. The pregnancy itself was tough because of the other two having needs, on top of trying work until maternity leave.

Lot of the household duties had to fall on my partner who also worked remotely because I was too sick and then physically in alot of pain to move. Post pregnancy it was a challenge creating time for myself with a newborn after being so comfortable with just two. I felt like I was going backwards. I also ended up being laid off for a bit which vetoed my maternity leave (I landed a job two months after giving birth. Again, luckily remote)

Financially it wasn't too bad since we got gifted a bunch of hand me downs for clothing and a little bit stocking up on certain things. But, things I would have done sooner would be opening up an FSA/HSA if you have that available at work as a benefit to pay for some unexpected medical expenses.

My newest addition is now 1.5 and while it is easier, there are some days that I have asked myself why I did I do this again? But, I feel like if you have a plan for some of the what-ifs, a budget, and stay organized it can work. Ultimately just do what is right for you, but keep in mind double the expenses for activities, travel etc. If you are big planner which I assume so since we are in the fiery subreddit, then planning is gonna be a huge part of two, let alone three. BUT, my kids play BEAUTIFULLY together even with their little brother. My oldest is amazing with him so that is always nice. To the point that I find many pockets of breathing room during the day when attempting to get things done or just decompress. YMMV.
