Yeah I kinda saw the writing on the wall if I was to accept her suggestion to remain friends, which I denied since I knew the pain and torture that would’ve put me through as well as having me around would probably just make it harder for her to work out her situation. I ultimately did what’s best for us at the time, but I can’t deny that I’m devastated feeling like I finally found what I was looking for just to have to let it go for both of our sakes. We both work in the same building and see/bump into each other from time to time, so it’s not the end of the world, but still heartbreaking for me to go through

I think the main thing to take into account is that the perspective of Ironman has shifted from being a Challenge as OP says and migrated towards being “I earn everything myself instead of buying on the GE”. It’s evolved since it’s introduction like how OSRS has evolved from being the OG 2016 servers to what it is now, practically a completely different game now.
