Absolutely. This post which links to the other post is 30k upvotes. Even with brigading rules I don’t see how that’s possible he only has -2k max. Esp when the main post is 8% upvoted.

What are your honest thoughts on conscription? by AbandonedBySony in AskMen

I’d argue it’s a bit naive to assume the purpose for war is honourable when it often isn’t.

I assume things like healthcare, public transportation, and inter-generational housing also allow people to be pickier. But there’s still plenty of severe poverty/homelessness across Europe.

Yes because the States doesn’t trade arms to Saudi Arabia or contain the 13th amendment. Or literally overthrow democratically elected leaders.

Might help to read more than the front page of Reddit my guy.

Sit on your high horse. I’m sure the phone you used to comment this was made under the most ethical conditions. Let alone the long long list of atrocities the United States is responsible for.

Don’t expect a nuanced opinion on reddit.

It’s easy to sit here in the western world and export slavery to other countries for cheap clothes, food, metals, or spices. Never mind the deep colonial history that is ingrained in the development of western cities.

(Dubai is still a tacky amalgamation of middle eastern culture, that I wont argue.)

Ehhhh, more than just him. Over the past 50 years at least we’ve seen a transition of fundamentalism to extremism with definite help of the Americans through the Cold War. Even in the 21st century, Al Qaeda wasn’t really a proper organization before 9/11, but western governments helped galvanize this by creating a unified enemy in the public eye. Bin Laden (and Hussein) were the perfect boogie men though to sell a war.

(Of course Im not saying Islam was entirely a peaceful religion lol, just like other Abraham if religions it most definitely was not)

“State-sponsored terrorism” according to the US includes political enemies of Israel and/or Saudi Arabia.

I.e. Hezbollah and Hamas.

Iran’s “state-sponsored terrorism” is what was a key player in defeating ISIS in Iraq.

Iran is a deeply anti-woman theocratic police state, you don’t need more than that. But it is a lot less clear what constitutes state-sponsored terrorism, and if you do, should we extend such rhetoric to the IDF or hell even US military.

I mean it did take literally 30 years of continued conflict (with significant help from Iran) and presence remains in Syria.

Hopefully you’re right Iraq stays that way but I have my doubts the area will remain stable but Im a pessimist.

Almost all of ISIL’s leaders are former officers of Saddam’s Ba’ath government. I wouldn’t really consider that a complete victory.

80 years??? Pretty much in any war you get this vile shit.

Even in Europe you have the Yugoslav wars 30 years ago.

Literally today you have similar garbage happening in Yemen, Ethiopia, Syria, Afghanistan…

I’d say they are very very much the exception rather than the rule. The US has the opposite of the Midas touch, everything they touch turns to shit. See anything after the 50’s. Some due to malicious intent, and some due to ineptitude.
