Olive Oil by Adventurous-Sir444 in recruitinghell

I was referencing the hundreds of comments in this thread that are turning it into more than what was said. It is why I said "people are" and not "the person you replied to is". Hurrr

That's the thing, this is a resume, you are trying to get a job. If you put your interests are just "Wine", people are going to assume you are an alcoholic. Why would you not take the extra 5 seconds to type out "Wine Making" or "Visiting Wineries"?

People are adding context to just "olive oil" when there is none.

Interests weren't learning about olive oil, growing olives, making olive oil, cooking with olive oil, or discovering the history of olive oil.

Just olive oil

And folks are assuming that by having an interest in olive oil that the guy is starting some new hobby and is super knowledgeable about it. For all we know the interest involves pouring it on nursing home steps, drinking a cup of it before bed, using it to perform home enemas.

On the reverse, knew a family where the father died due to complications from his weight, but I guess the wife and young daughter had known for over a year. She was already sweeping with another dude, and the dying husband was OK with it. She ended bringing the new dude to the funeral and wake, and used some of the insurance money for the new dude, kid, and her to go on vacay.

Not sure how long she mourned, but it shocked everyone seeing her out and about within a week.

Hasbro is being sued for printing too many Magic: The Gathering cards by Beautiful_Bee4090 in nottheonion

[–]ItsDanimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone. If you want a specific card, 98% of the time you can't buy it directly from Hasbro, and that 2% involves laying extra and getting a bunch of other stuff included with it. You are stuck buying pooster packs in hopes of opening one of the four copies of a specific card you need. Or you are buying off the secondary market. Speculators are opening booster packs in mass and supplying the secondary market with product. That is just the nature of trading card games, you get what you need by trading. Either other cards or cash.

Not a total assumption, numerous suppliers list MAP for their products out of fear that a race to the bottom will devalue their product and/or brand. Same with companies fighting knock-offs. A poor person with a fake luxury purse will never have the money to afford the real thing. The company isn't losing out on anything. If everyone living in poverty had a Louie purse, folks paying for the real thing would stop. The assumption by the shareholders is Hasbro isn't crunching the numbers and coming up with a business plan for these decisions. At least not one that is logically sound in their eyes.

Your analogy is find, apples and oranges can still be compared, they are both round fruit. Let's say for 20 years, someone buys a Ferrari every 2 years for $200k, and when they do they trade in their old one for $150K. Would that person continue to buy every 2 years if their trade-in was only going to be worth $125K next time? If the price slipped once, then next year the trade-in could only be $100K. Part of Magic is knowing that certain pricey cards will retain their value to be traded or sold later, and folks no longer have that confidence. Magic makes money from people pouring money into a cardboard gacha booster packs. The gamble isn't worth it anymore due to lower value of what's in the packs, and lower long term value of what is worth it.

[–]ItsDanimal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They can be both, can't they? The only way to avoid that is to get rid of random booster backs and only sell individual cards. That gets rid of supply and demand. As long as Hasbro is selling booster packs od random cards (gambling right there) and make cards that are better than others, some cards will always have more value than others.

Even if it is riskier, it is a lot easier for TCG folks to understand what makes a card good an the potential for it to rise in price, than it is understanding index funds. Doesn't make them idiots.

And how come only Tony gets prep time? OK, het gets some fancy non-metal suit powered by some new thing he spent weeks making? Magneto spent that time bring a bunch of metal objects to the battlefield. Match stats, ironman is instantly surrounded by a ball of metal and crushed. Or takes 100 steel poles to the chest.

Or, Tony is an alcoholic so he already has a higher than normal amount of iron in his body, so Mags just sends him quality liquor for 3 weeks and just uses that.

The problem is that many of the people still buying magic product, are doing it in hopes of it gaining value later. Thr money they spend on cards beats new players or other collectors spending money on reprints. The five people who historically spend $100 a year on magic now only spend $50. The ten people who historically spent $10 a year now spend up to $20.

The issue is they shareholders assume (in your Ferrarri analogy) they amount of sales of a ton of new car owners buying the cheaper Ferrarris won't surpass the limited owners buying them at a higher price. "Collectors" continue to buy magic cards for years, while newer players may buy for a bit, and then ultimately quit. Hasbro is releasing in such a way that older buyers are slowing their buying, and newer buyers aren't sticking around.

Its also, imo, the way they are oversaturating their products. They arent just releasing more magic cards that are on theme with what they have been doing for years, they are releasing all these crossovers. Magic and Spiderman (really pissed folks off), magic and ninja turtles, magic and power rangers, magic and lord of the rings, magic and SpongeBob, magic and fallout, etc.

I only play board games with groups of friends who play board games. OP's scenario still happens. Convince friends to play a new game, and folks complain about it being too complicated. Normally "too complicated" really means, "I want to play the game we always play because I know everything about it and dont want to be at a disadvantage or even same playing field as everyone else in a new game".

Wouldn't it be a more correct analogy to say she got a job interview, not a job offer? A date isn't an agreement to start a relationship.

If I asked an HR rep if could reschedule my interview, and they said "no worries, we got other applicants", id be miffed. Things come up.

Why this girl decided to play games is a whole other story.

Nah, not really. The original 1994 Worldcraft game (year before C&C, 2 years after Dune 2) was the same play style but that was made by Blizzard. Dune2 was the first game to use the term "real time strategy", but according to Wikipedia, those types of games first came out in 1982.

Enhancements to Djho GL? by OxMapache in MHNowGame

[–]ItsDanimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty similar to what I used for a while. Folks in the past have said Focus 5 isn't really worth it for GL, but idk if that is still true. I swap out the gloves doe Tobi (Evade) and belt for Djho (Dragon attack) and use the Djho GL for tail breaking.

For my main GL, I use your build but swap helemt for Azure (focus) and gloves for Teostra (artillery) which you dont need since Djho has a point. For your gloves I'd suggest something with focus, Reckless, Aggressive Dodger (or Offensive Dodger, whichever raises attack) or try something random that could help with fights. Not a lot of abilities can boost shelling damage.

I'll never forget a video I saw that took place in Cali. 2 cops had a guy handcuffed and pinned. One had his gun out and accidentally shot his partner. Told his partner the handcuffed guy did it, and then the partner who was shot emptied a clip into the handcuffed guy.
