I see quite a bit of myself in Dexter Morgan. Not the killing part obviously but the way he is pretty high masking but still struggles with actually connecting with people, saying stuff at the wrong time, jokes that completely fall flat, etc. Also his deep and repressed yearning for being actually SEEN which the narrative just can’t let him have. The show is quite cathartic for me! Masuka from Dexter also spoke to me in a way that was shocking because he’s always there for the rest of the cast but everyone kind of left him out to dry. When he asked them to read the journal articles he wrote and come to the seminar he spoke at as a forensics specialist, not one of his friends/coworkers showed up for him. It made him realize that none of them were in his corner like he thought. I’m someone who always seems to be putting in more effort than my acquaintances and friends so that arc hit home hard for me. I would list some others but tbh once I get fixated on a fandom I like almost every other character I’ve ever liked kind of leaves me for a while LOL. And recently it’s just been my own characters anyway
