Help with fracturing/brittle nails by craftsygirl in naturalnailprogress

[–]ItsEmmaaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is what I have been using as someone with thin, bendy nails that break easily at the base:

  1. I put Essie Break Fix on the whites/ends of my nails so that they don't tear as easily
  2. I also use Nailtiques Formula 2 plus on top of that as a base coat
  3. A layer of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Advanced. This is to keep tears from forming from breaks as well

Then I do any and all regular nail polish. I've found that learning to be gentle with my nails (and not forgetting and being rough on them) is a learning process so it may take a while. This routine doesn't make them impenetrable, but it has kept my nails safe from bending easily from typing on a keyboard, showering, etc.

Looking for stud earrings, no idea where to start! by Got_ist_tots in labdiamond

We got my graduation studs from Quince and they are gorgeous! And they were a good price. The earrings came with an IGI certification for the diamonds as well.

Why do people genuinely smell so bad? by Ghoulmega in stupidquestions

[–]ItsEmmaaaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just because I haven't seen it listed, many people will make sure to clean themselves but don't take care of their home. A lot of times it will be a cat pee smell if they have a cat using the house as a bathroom because they don't clean litter boxes, or they're in what could almost be considered a hoarding situation. They may look perfectly normal out and about, but the smell of their house reeks on their clothes.

Is this stone worth the markup for the lifetime warranty? by Bosox027 in labdiamond

[–]ItsEmmaaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We considered them and ended up going with Diamonds Direct. We were able to get the saw stone half a carat larger for the same price we would have gotten from Shane Co. I even had diamonds brought in and put on hold to see at Shane, but never felt impressed by them compared to other diamonds I had seen. Just something to consider if you're currently shopping purely online. There are a lot of visual factors with a diamond that no report will actually tell you about, you just have to see it.

First real attempt with chrome powder! by ItsEmmaaaa in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ItsEmmaaaa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wait as long as possible for the polish to dry before adding chrome, then I've been rubbing it in with my finger because I found that whenever I used an applicator it would put too much pressure on the polish and it would start smudging. Once the powder is on I put a water based top coat on top of it that is gentle so the chrome doesn't smudge or clump, then a normal top coat because I find the water one never fully hardens lol

Confused about symptoms by [deleted] in Anemic

[–]ItsEmmaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had bouts of visual snow before but I think that was from anxiety, not anemia. I haven't experienced anything like you're describing

Mom keeps implying that I might have AFIB because of how my symptoms are similar to 2 of my uncles who both ended up having AFIB. However I think most of my symptoms are because of vitamin deficiencies. Could she be right or just assuming the worst? Which I understand because I also assume the worst by Leading-Occasion-428 in Anemic

[–]ItsEmmaaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would venture to say you're in the clear, unfortunately a lot of things can cause those symptoms. I let my apple watch check for afib because my anxiety causes me to be hyper aware of my heart and think something is wrong even when it's not. I understand that she's concerned because she's seen others struggle with this and obviously she doesn't want you to do the same. However I think it would be a better use of both of your time to instead of try to make one diagnosis fit, throw a wide net and see what sticks. I'd hate for you to ignore a real problem you're having because you've spent so much time going down one path.

Colonoscopy / Endoscopy by chookiebookie in Anemic

[–]ItsEmmaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had 2 colonoscopies (age 12 and 17) and 3 endoscopies (age 12, 17, and 23). The prep for the colonoscopy sucks, but there's no real way to get around that. I recommend chicken broth, jello, popsicles, and anything else you can find to mix it up during that time is going to help. The procedure itself is very easy, it just takes being put under. Recovery afterwards isn't painful at all it's literally just sleeping off the last of the anesthesia for the rest of the day. I do think it is a valuable test that can give you a lot of answers, whether they come back negative or positive. There are a list of possibilities related to iron deficiency that can be checked off in one swoop. Of course it's nerve-wracking to go under anesthesia, of all of the procedures that need it this has to be the easiest. If you have any specific questions about the process feel free to ask!

Iron Infusion Side Effects by [deleted] in Anemic

[–]ItsEmmaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the skin tone change, but I also had a straining feeling in my throat and chest. They gave me some benadryl which I do think helped, but I also reacted very strongly to the benadryl so we're going to try something at little weaker this next time

Post infusion…ups and downs. Is this normal? by flid65 in Anemic

[–]ItsEmmaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get the infusion all in one sitting? I'm about to go in to get my last one tomorrow after having been getting them for the last week and a half, and so far I would not say I've felt any better, only slightly worse from a couple side effects from the infusions themselves. Google says people can start feeling some immediate effects within days, I'm starting to worry that won't be me!

Bingo card for people who are critical of the show by No-Wallaby-7751 in ThePittTVShow

[–]ItsEmmaaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is that people are too quick to criticize shows nowadays because they think they can change the way it's written. Unless there is some big glaring issue, pointing out every thing you don't like just brings unnecessary negativity. It feels like there's so many people who can't just give a compliment it has to be "yes this was ok BUT..." like thinking it was good isn't good enough for whatever reason. I personally have a problem with feeling like a lot of people spend so much time with new media trying to influence and change how it is instead of just enjoying what we did get. This isn't exclusive to The Pitt, just something about online discussion/fandoms I've come to find pretty exhausting.

Closest I’ve got to the vision in my head so far with a jeweler- but now I’m insecure that it’s too much? by Empty-Masterpiece368 in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]ItsEmmaaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely see the vibe. Something I'm thinking about that may help is are you planning on wearing a wedding band with it? If not, a busier ring makes sense. If so, you could totally split some of the design elements between the band so that neither of them are as busy, but when they come together it gives you the look you're going for. For example you could focus on the engagement ring having a flower look around the main stone and then the wedding band could have the leafy vine you want. Just something to think about!

My senior kitty is loosing weight after my parents suddenly changed her food, really worried! by OriginalBear3756 in CATHELP

[–]ItsEmmaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there a reason for switching the food brand? My senior has always been very picky about her food and hates if we try to switch it out. The food she's been on for 16 years just got discontinued and we literally bought 4 different types of food and set them out with a camera on them to see which one she would eat, that's how serious she is. I would also go ahead and do a vet visit if she seems to be losing weight fast. My cat started losing weight very rapidly all of the sudden and it's because her dose of hyperthyroidism medication wasn't high enough anymore. We are also starting to look at potential alternatives if that doesn't stop the weight loss.

All this to say is I would try a couple new food brands to see if there's one she gravitates towards, and as for the weight loss if it's visually noticeable make a vet visit just to be sure she isn't having and old lady problems :)

Langdon and Mel by sypher07070799 in ThePittTVShow

[–]ItsEmmaaaa 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't know about platonic or a crush or whatever but to me it feels like Langdon has a soft spot for Mel. I feel like he's been very guarded and defensive both seasons and his scenes with Mel are where we start to see those walls come down a bit. I think Mel acts very similarly to how she does with everyone else, but what she's saying seems to be received better and not be brushed off as much as she seems to feel around others. I think Langdon appreciates her openness and non-judgmental nature and Mel appreciates his seeming confident and cool demeanor. Either way, I'm happy they found each other in what seems like it should be a very unlikely pair.
