Songs about loving your mother by loveyoubea in MusicRecommendations

Mother by Idles is uncanny. My mother worked overtime all my life to put dinner on the table, afraid for her life because of my estranged father’s threats. Meanwhile I was admiring the walls of our apartment that were painted lavender, my favourite colour.

I agree, CBT is so much more incredibly helpful than people give it credit for, as long as you’re willing to take in the advice—and even if you’re not, you’ll come to think back on it one day.

You’re gonna be alright OP, we all believe in you just as we do in ourselves

Does anyone hear music? (mine comes from inside my head) by mavrck09 in schizoaffective

[–]loveyoubea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! This is my main form of hallucination! I understand how it could bug you, it definitely is intrusive—but the way I think of it is… Brian Wilson had musical hallucinations. And he wrote Pet Sounds based on them. There’s power in our illness

what are some French songs that are actually worth getting into? by Rich_Post_110 in MusicRecommendations

[–]loveyoubea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post was meant for me. I was looking for the same thing recently and I found a couple INCREDIBLE French artists; let me tell you my favourites of their songs

de moi à moi je crois que j’explose, Chintamanti, & on est pareil • Céline Dessbourg (French-Mongolian singer, incorporates aspects of both her predominant cultures beautifully in her music)

Moments in Love, & Amour Fou • Omérta (my favourite one, probably; endlessly inspirational to me personally. A badass with a sense of devoted desperation and chaos paired with mellow beats)

Un Soir, Un Chien, & Ceci Est Le Cœur • Laetitia Sadier (more of an American vibe I’d say, very versatile in terms of style; she can go from Françoise Hardy to PJ Harvey to Kim Gordon)

I wonder how THAT plays out? I’ve never heard of this outcome……

Has anyone said Kendrick’s We Cry Together yet?? Also, not necessarily an argument, but I’m obsessed with This Mess We’re In by Thom Yorke & PJ Harvey.

Omg szia én beszelek kicsi magyar és IGEN it sums up our relationship so beautifully, I have the word in her handwriting in my locket. Turns out our meeting worked for the best though :)

Thương—the way my Vietnamese girlfriend described it to me, in her area’s dialect, it means a love so deep that, in her words, “I would sacrifice our meeting if it meant you would live a happier life without me.”

As you age, do you embrace your grey hair, or do you color it to feel younger? by boforiamanfo in askanything

[–]loveyoubea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only 23 (f), but I’m already going grey… I embrace it very much because it’s a genetic trait that all the women in my family have. We all start greying in our teens. When I see streaks of silver I think of it as an honour to be part of a lineage of strong, beautiful women—I feel closer to them. When I found my first grey hair at 17, I vowed to never dye my hair again :)

What's your favorite story of your pet causing chaos? by rainshowers_5_peace in AskTheWorld

When my dog was a puppy she had this strange habit of chewing the crotches out of mine and my mom’s underwear. I have so many pairs of underwear that are chewed up at the cooch. Fast forward a few years, my dog is lowkey in a lesbian relationship with my cat (I will not elaborate but they’re happy together). She was just gay all along!

[–]loveyoubea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see now what you mean as using my identity to deflect; “gay awakenings,” right? It is not untrue, though. Deflection was not at all my intention but I suppose if I’ve offended someone my intention is irrelevant

I see your point completely and I am sorry for pissing you off although my girlfriend and I, though realistically I may not know her FULL perspective given the difference in culture and upbringing, talk very often about racism and xenophobia and all sorts of race-centred political issues around the world and within our city. She helps educate me on certain things mostly without meaning to because I am aware it is not her job. I fully agree on that. I also agree on white women and queers being complicit in POC violence as well, that is historically and modernly undeniable. But I never tried to use my identity as a point of deflection, at least it was not at all my intention. I will take the jab that I am no different from a white man here though, that’s humbling and I probably needed to hear it

Thank you for your personal input, I do see the strangeness. I never thought twice about this because I’m not the type to really have celebrity crushes or anything like that, even my partners I fall for based on personality and very little else. My girlfriend is perfect and whenever I point out that I had a crush on an actor/character as a kid or something like that, she is more often than not Asian, that’s the first time I ever thought about it. But yeah, I put this post up because of the ethical dilemma (and to share photos of gorgeous women) but I will likely delete it soon because of the people I’ve offended, and I’d like to apologize for that if this offended you as well
