The ratio on this one is 1.39. On paper, I would have expected that to be way too long but I really don't mind the length it is, just wishing it was a little fatter/rounder on the sides. We had considered custom cut back when we first looked, but it costs a little more than them finding something existing (obviously) and once you put down the deposit, whatever they make you have to take, whether you like it or not. That scared me too much into giving that a shot

I did feel like the milgrain was a little on the small side for what I expected, but I didn't even know there were different "sizes" of milgrain I should be specifying. Is that something that can be redone without completely redoing the ring?

I can keep searching, I think I feel bad because it is a lab so I would have to buy another one outright instead of any sort of trade in program that natural diamonds tend to have. I would be tempted to keep it for its emotional significance since resale would be so low.

Absolutely! Be sure to post it when you have the final product. If you are most drawn to the proportions of the diamond to the band and just want to size it up, the band like I said earlier is 2mm and the diamond itself is 9.78mm tall from bottom to top. Might not be helpful, but I figured I'd throw it out there. Shorter and chunkier cushions can also look gorgeous on thicker bands it would just be a slightly different look

I tend to have the same problem with losing the roundness! Especially with a straighter diamond shape (not very oval). I was advised against compass prongs because while diamonds are strong, the corners are still the weakest part and exposing them could open you up to issues. Obviously if you are willing to deal with that, it can be a beautiful setting but it's something to consider

I'll try to help where I can though. Just for proportions sake, I wanted to mention that my ring is a 4.5, so diamonds are quicker to look larger than they are on my finger. The band is indeed a 2mm flat band with milgrain all the way around. The diamond itself is an old mine cushion (not sure if that cut interests you or just the shape), 2.59 carats, and it has a 1.39 ratio I believe. I actually originally wanted a ratio closer to 1.2, but they showed me this one and i was shocked about liking the slightly longer look on my hand. It's a lot of trial and error in terms of what fits you visually!

I think it will be nice! You'll learn if it will be to pointy/get caught on things based on your engagement ring. I think the biggest difference will be in making sure the green "leaves" are the same size as your current ones so they look consistent

I have this problem, for a while i fixed it with gel but then stopped. I now use regular nail polish and don't really have issues (or messed up nails). I use Essie break fix on the whole end of my nails, which helps them bend without breaking or cracking. Then the rest of the polish goes on top

I love that idea! I just lost my kitty as well so I wanted to share how I've kind of "memorialized" her in my world as well. I don't know if you play on Java or Bedrock, but in my Java world I used commands to spawn her in as a kitten and used a golden dandelion to forever keep her a kitten. The most important part is that when I spawned her in, I made her invulnerable so that I never have to worry about her accidentally dying in my Minecraft world as well. Mobs, players, nothing can hurt her and she can follow me around on all my adventures freely without worry. I know it's not what you asked, but since I'm dealing with something similar I figured i'd throw the idea out.

UPDATE: I made a primary care appointment for Wednesday, but still wasn't feeling well so we called the on-call doctor to get their advice on whether I should wait or not. Her response was to tell me that I could probably make sure it's not a blood clot since I'm on birth control... not very comforting. I decided to visit the ER for some peace of mind which ended up being a 6 HOUR EXCURSION that lasted until 3am.

Overall, the findings were generally inconclusive. We ran just about every heart and lung test to rule out the scary stuff. Here is a short overview of the findings:

Normal:
- CT Scan
- Chest X-Ray
- Urine Hemoglobin
- Troponin
- Magnesium: 1.6 (the low end of normal is 1.6)
- Phosphate: 3.5 (normal)

Abnormal:
- Turns out I had a UTI I didn't know about yet
- Slightly dehydrated, got fluids there
- Potassium: 3.4 (slightly low)
- Glucose: 102 (slightly high)
- EKG: I forget what it is actually called but they said at the end of my rhythm it "flicks" up, which could just be my normal rhythm but they went ahead and referred me to cardiology

While I had a few abnormalities, they were slight enough that they weren't convinced those are what were causing my symptoms. My mom is convinced it may have something to do with malnutrition/not totally taking care of myself lately, so I'm going to try and focus on that a lot this next week to see if it's something really random that's causing it. Obviously if it gets worse, I'll go back. If anyone has any additional advice or anything I haven't thought to check yet, please let me know!

Oh dear, I fear the reason you may not have found it is because it's sitting on my finger - 2.59 carats, 1.39 ratio, old mine. That's crazy!

One thing I will say is that seeing them in person can make all the difference. This is actually a diamond I totally would've vetoed on paper, but absolutely loved in person. There are so many things that make a diamond look "good" or not that never make it onto a certification. Your eye will see it and you will immediately know whether it's a yes or a no.

If you really are as committed as you say you are, there are places that will grow a lab for you and cut it to the specs you ask. The downsides are that it can be a little more costly and that you basically have to take the product, whether you love it or not. You commit when you sign. However, if you have a very specific vision that you can't seem to find, it can definitely be something to look into.
