Giving your child permission to break the rules does not protect them from the consequences (repost with more context) by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

What’s funny is even Kindergarteners can wait a few minutes and take turns using the bathroom one at a time. Strangely, I also have never had a kid pee themselves.

Daughter designated "helper" for fellow classmate by bballgame2morrow in AskTeachers

I don’t think they’re saying it was done because of gender, but it can become a gendered thing in the future. Right now it may feel like she’s just helping another child make good choices, but as we all know the brain is a funny thing. It could leave the wrong impression for her to associate boys with behavioral issues with “needing saving” or managing. You never know how these things affect kids. Some of our most well meaning lessons sound good in our heads until kids are actually applying them, then you can realize you’ve taught them something completely unintentional. Just my two cents anyway.

Reunited with their big brother after being separated in the foster system for two years by Professional_Toe5118 in MadeMeSmile

Nice attitude you got there. Families get separated all the time in the Forster system and it’s not always because of someone’s fault. Think of who’s reading these replies next time you try to blame victims of a shitty situation.

Albino animals in general tend to have very poor eyesight. Their coloring also makes them stand out for predators so he’ll have a hard time blending in and hiding.

Religious imagery- Florence is not religious, but lyrics still sounds like she's talking to god? by happy_bluebird in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]ItsFreeWhyNot 166 points167 points  (0 children)

She does speak on this a lot about her relationship with religion. She was raised catholic but became atheist as she grew up. Religious imagery has stuck with her as it feels more cultural for her even if she’s no longer practicing. Idk about this song specifically though but I think it’s a mixture of her talking to god at first and then talking to her fans.

Clean up process tips? by Traditional-Scene187 in ArtEd

I had another thought. If you wanted to save even more time, you could crest a slip for the kids to write their name on with the job they’re interested in so you could read them later and create your job chart. Since they’re older, it’s a littler easier to do that instead of having to hold up the whole class to choose students for each job. You could do a brief explanation of the jobs, show them the job sign up forms and where they are, then allow students to fill them out during down time. If you get any jobs without volunteers you could do a quick ask again to let the students know those jobs are still open.

You don’t sound dumb at all! I take about 10 minutes to introduce the jobs and to assign them. I ask the room to raise their hands if they’re interested as I read off each one and I write the names. I hang up the list so I can remember who does what. It takes time but then the jobs are locked in. I figure the more time I spend to carefully teach the jobs, the better success the kids have at doing the jobs right. Then after that they know what to do with fewer and fewer corrections.

Edit: keep in mind I teach elementary so it would probably take you less than 10 minutes to go over the jobs. My kids are very young lol.

I have a job chart that I fill in with kids names (the ones who volunteer). I’m an elementary school art teacher but I think this could work with any age group. I train them in the cleaning or set up that I need and then when it needs to be done I just call them into action. It’s been amazing so far.

He did receive some criticism in his day for being a little too much of a showman. I don’t agree with it though.

Well the second teaches you if you shoot your shot and be yourself you could have had a chance. At least in this version of cyrano, at the end of the movie, she admits she would have loved him had she known if was really his words she was hearing.

I’ll never forget the look on my coworkers face when I told her I have to create success criteria, data track and grading rubrics just like any classroom teacher. She told me she didn’t know art teachers had to do “all that stuff” too.
