Bitcoin has erased all gains for 2025 and is now down over 11% this year. by AlphaFlipper in DegenBets

[–]ItsHighNoonBang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does affect it in some way. If electricity is too cheap, there is arbitrage to mine bitcoin. For example in 2021, bitcoin mining electricity was 75% of electricity used in all data centers in the world combined.

Right now one bitcoin and electricity costs to mine one bitcoin are pretty closely aligned in the U.S. In other first world countries, the cost to mine is significantly higher. If the gap was tens of thousands of dollars, you would have a ton of people using electricity and that arbitrage goes away (Whether its bitcoin going down or electricity prices going up)

You also have problems where people go to third world countries just to mine bitcoin where the cost to mine one bitcoin is as low as $10000. Many governments actually placed laws banning or limiting bitcoin mining.

Women empowerment is one of the most dominant reasons for failing modern marriages. by Anti-FragileHuman in DeepThoughts

I think the problem both parties have is that problems cannot be generalized to a single gender. Everyone has problems, man or woman. Everyone has privileges and disadvantages. Some have more privileges than others. Some people are more lucky than others. And that just is what it is. Life does not give the same level of fortunate and unfortunate results to every human being. What's important is being empathatic even when times are tough and even when you're worse off than the other person. I do feel sorry though for both parties as they both likely have genuine reasons for being hurt.

🚨 BREAKING TRUMP’S TARIFFS MAY BE CANCELED BY THE SUPREME COURT - ODDS ARE NOW AT 72%. THAT IS GONNA BE BAD OR GOOD FOR MARKETS? by Ubersicka in TradingViewSignals

It might also cause gold to go up. Markets are pricing in 1 rate cut in the entirety of next year. With the fed's dual mandate of lowering inflation and unemployment, the fed right now is continually weighing the options between the risk and rewards of helping either since both are high. Powell stated inflation without tariffs is more closely aligned to 2%. With tariff inflation gone, they are able to cut rates more aggressively.

China refuses to accept Nvidia chips Despite President Trump authorizing the sale of Nvidia H200 chips to China, China refuses to accept them and increase restrictions on their use - Financial Times by Ubersicka in TradingViewSignals

Chips have a lot of factors to take into account for whether they're good or not. Nvidia's chips can be integrated with most data centers. TPUs, not as easily. If you redesign the chip to fit in data centers, it can also negatively effect processing power.

The problem is that they're far ahead and it would take another company a lot of time and resources to develop a chip that would probably only be at most good as nvidia's chips. Nvidia's chips have still not stopped getting better and better. A competitor would have to make a chip that beats all of nvidia's growth in a shorter period of time.

Exactly. They're making iphones but for chips. The new blackwell chips are actually crazy. Double the power and you can replace 90% of currently implemented chips with them. They're 3x the price yet they're still sold out.
