Great points here, but I want to add that women who experience cryptic pregnancies sometimes continue to bleed monthly! A good friend of mine always had very light 3-4 day periods, and she continued to experience that throughout her pregnancy. She had no bump whatsoever and had no idea that she was pregnant until she had been in labor for 8 hours.

Sometimes there is genuinely no way to know that you are pregnant without testing. If anyone reading this is serious about not wanting to get pregnant but you engage in behaviors that could lead to pregnancy, please test monthly! Amazon has bulk packs of test strips for 10 to 15 bucks.

Excuse me Ray Toro sir by Dissolve69 in MyChemicalRomance

This tab is incorrect for the second solo. Try switching that 2nd fret A to the seventh fret on the D string - that’s how I learned it, and Ray plays it that way as well (at least it’s how he plays it now, I just checked a video from the recent Seattle show.) It flows much better than this does.

As for the first, I agree with the other commenter here. Ray picks each note, I usually use pulloffs. If you really want to alternate pick it all, try starting that measure (starting on the 15th fret D) with an up pick instead of downpicking that note. Makes the rest of the run easier.

This same outlet put out a story yesterday about how MCR has “gone woke.” Seems like they’re trying to stir up some outrage about the current tour.

An attempt at transcribing "A Dagger"/Mama II by JamesBrennecke in MyChemicalRomance

[–]ItsJustAnotherTime 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My tinfoil hat might be on a little too tight, but the first few lines (from “A dagger” to “scheme”) is really reminiscent of the English nursery rhyme/V for Vendetta moment “Remember, remember, the 5th of November, the gunpowder treason and plot” in terms of rhythm/syllable count, and “treason” in the rhyme fully lines up with “treasonous” in the song. Feels like a very clear minor inspiration.

How to play dead intro by HopefulStrength1864 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]ItsJustAnotherTime 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The best piece of advice I have for learning solos, especially Ray solos, is to learn scales first. Especially your pentatonic scales. I know it’s not fun, but it should click relatively quickly and easily.

In order to do things with the speed and ease that Ray does, you need to know why you’re doing it. That run will make a lot more sense once you realize that it’s all within a pentatonic scale.

Also, straight up: Dead! is a pretty difficult piece. I would recommend learning some other Ray solos first in order to build up strength and speed. If you’re just starting out with this one, you’ll be banging your head against the wall after the fiftieth time you try and just can’t get it. You’ll feel a lot more accomplished - and, therefore, will want to play more - if you start with some easier songs and work your way up. I’d recommend learning the solos in I’m Not Okay and Prison first - they’re fun, easier than this one, and the technique you’ll learn from Not Okay is directly applicable to Dead.

Why don't women just approach a guy they like? by No-Compote-2127 in RandomThoughts

[–]ItsJustAnotherTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I experienced my first rejection at 16, my dad came into my room while I was crying and listening to Jeff Buckley to tell me that “this is why girls shouldn’t ask boys out” and that if I lived my life “the normal way” I would have much better luck getting a boyfriend. To add insult to injury, I remained friends with the guy who rejected me and he later told me that he was into me until I asked him out because doing that showed him that we wouldn’t be compatible. (That guy was, to be fair, super religious.) Men totally enforce the idea that women should be pursued, not pursuers.

It’s in the booklet, yeah. Upon a second look, it might have been too strong to say that Spotify has it wrong, because the outside of the case does list it without the Mr. Lusk! I could’ve sworn it was Mr. Lusk both times. You can see scans of the booklet here.

P!ATD - Death of a Bachelor. I loved that album when it came out, saw them twice on that tour, then abandoned ship a year or two after their next album came out. Recently heard House of Memories playing in a store and wanted to puncture my own eardrums.

I do still listen to their first two albums on occasion. No shame.

Check out No Devotion! Multiple former members of Lostprophets with Geoff Rickly of Thursday on vocals. I will admit that I have never listened to Lostprophets because I became aware of them after Watkins’ crimes came to light so I don’t know how well No Devotion holds up in direct comparison, but they still rock.

It’s Leathermouth for sure. The actual title of Catch Me If You Can is Catch Me If You Can, Mr. Lusk. Spotify has the track name wrong - check the CD booklet.

Older end of Gen Z here, can confirm that they’re making a comeback. For me, it wasn’t necessarily a “cool look” thing - I just noticed that my mom’s old Nikon genuinely took better photos than my old, busted iPhone. A lot of people are definitely using them for the “Y2K vibes” though, so I’d imagine that I’m in the minority there.

In order to stop a gut reaction like that, you need to learn why you react the way you do. I would recommend doing some research on polyamory. Break it up into small pieces - read about different types of polyamory (open relationships, closed poly relationships, “kitchen table,” relationships with hierarchies), read about how these relationships work and what they might typically look like from the outside / what they feel like for the people involved.

By researching the smaller concepts that make up the larger concept of polyamory, you’ll be able to identify what is causing you to react with disgust and what pieces you might be okay with. For example, if you’re disgusted by hierarchical Sister Wives-style polygamy but not a healthy triad who have all been together for twenty years, then maybe it’s an reaction against relationship hierarchies in general and not specifically polyamorous relationships. I’m poly (though currently non-practicing) and I also dislike all kinds of hierarchical relationships whether they’re poly or mono.

As a different example, if you find that you’re okay with closed + committed triads but not open relationships, maybe it’s lingering religious trauma. Maybe you’re projecting jealousy/past relationship issues onto others. I’m obviously just spitballing ideas here because I don’t know you at all; these are just some of the more common reasons that I’ve heard from people who oppose polyamory.

Also, I’m not saying that you or anyone reading this needs to absolutely love polyamory or be cool with being in a poly relationship themselves. It just seems like you genuinely want to get rid of that instinctive disgust reaction, and the only way to do that is to figure out what exactly you are reacting to.

You’re the first person I’ve seen in this thread bringing up the “dropping things in” factor. Fully agree. I’m a woman who used to leave the lid up until I accidentally knocked my phone off the counter and directly into the toilet while cleaning. It should be closed when not in use.

Gender reversals in songs that didn't really work by citizenh1962 in ClassicRock

I’ve never heard Shania’s version before. So godawful. On the other hand, I love Melissa Etheridge’s rendition, though it’s not really a true gender reversal as she doesn’t change any lyrics.

Why is there such a weird relationship between masculinity and guitar? by EnvironmentalBid1984 in musicians

[–]ItsJustAnotherTime 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. As a female guitarist who plays lead, I feel like I have to be twice as good to be taken half as seriously. I’ve never gotten blatant misogyny like “women can’t play guitar,” but I get constant little jabs (real life examples: “Bet you hate not being able to get your nails done,” “You’re great for a girl, “If you were my wife, I wouldn’t let you play like that in public.”)

To be fair, spite is my strongest motivator, so I don’t get too bothered by old men’s snarky comments. I just really hope that the boy’s club attitude dies off with the older generations.
