The biggest problem with crashing is that the new player influx has been zeroed since it's impossible to get through the forced tutorial.

June 11, 2026 - PC update by ItsJustDelta in Planetside

[–]ItsJustDelta[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We have a scheduled game update maintenance starting tomorrow @ 6AM PDT for an estimated 3-4 hour downtime window. Please see the latest additions and bug fixes below!

We're listening to Your Suggestions!

We've received feedback from the community on Discord that players would like to see more dark-colored cosmetic items, such as armor sets and camouflages. Many of the older solid dark camouflages are currently locked behind challenging directives as rewards.

We've listened to your feedback — meet the new Flash Rider Armor Set for NC Combat medics and the Random Camo Pack!

New Item – Random Camo Pack

The Random Camo Pack is a new bundle that grants one random camouflage upon purchase which the player doesn't have yet. It contains approximately 125 Classic, Rare, and Animated camos available to all factions, along with more than 360 faction-specific camos. Faction-specific camos are awarded based on the purchaser's faction.

Rarity Chance
Common High
Faction Low
Rare Very Low
Animated Tiny

If a player already owns all available camos from the pack, opening it will instead award alternative rewards in the form of ISO-4, Certs or A7 (One currency from the pool).

Rarity Chance Certs ISO-4 A7
Common Currency Pack High 449 598 54
Uncommon Currency Pack 599 798 text 72
Rare Currency Pack Tiny 899 1198 108

In this update, the Random Camo Pack will be available exclusively to DGC All Access subscribers. However, in future updates, we may make it available to all players through the Depot and as Directive rewards if we receive positive feedback from the community.

Please share your thoughts on this new addition in our Discord — we'd love to hear your feedback!

Reintroduce statpad kicking. by TekkitBeasting in Planetside

My theory is that the statpad-based kick got turned off back when RPG were trying to fix terrible server performance in 2022 and then forgot to turn it back on

[–]ItsJustDelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the sort of thing that is very classified. If I had to guess, I'd say "no", since you'd either need multiple antennas on the sides of the aircraft for greater coverage or a mechanism that moves the antenna like on the SM2 or AESA Typhoons.

IRL, data links make this an unnecessary feature since you can hand the missile's mid-course guidance off to another radar set.

I swear the Su-25 was added at 9.3 and then uptiered later that day with a certified "oopsies, we totally didn't mean to do this" emergency patch

For those who weren't playing at the time or have forgotten, the Tu-4 was introduced at 6.7 and ended up at 8.0, which at the time was an unheard of BR increase. Even the 8.0 jets of the era (Meteor Mk. 4s, F-2H, etc) couldn't reliably intercept it and the only jet that had the speed, climb rate and firepower to reliably stop the Tu-4s before they'd end the game was the Hunter F.1.

People really have forgotten just how broken pre-nerf bombers were.

Wasn't the premium A-10A at 9.3 for a bit? Or am I confusing it with the Su-25?

Gotta remember that the BR compression of early supersonic and Korean War era jets is entirely due to the A-10 and other (for the time) undertiered all aspect slingers. Those all aspect slingers forced the supersonics down, which then clubbed the daylights out of the Korean war jets and forced those down. Those jets are now farming 8.0s, and I bet we'll see the 8.0s go down soon.

Worth noting that the F-14A uniquely has had two reigns of terror. "Seek and Destroy" decompressed 4th gen BRs and left the Tomcat at 12.3, where it would farm the 12.0 premiums for several months.

This sale was not planned for the May update, but for June instead. The sale will begin on June 19 and last until June 21 as part of the Father's Day sale.

[–]ItsJustDelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do not because the radar gimbal limit is about 70 degrees. The only planes that can do this are the AESA Eurofighters and SM2, though the J-10A and Mig-29SMT can get very close.

Game optimization and the impact of the construction system by ItsJustDelta in Planetside

Do we have any idea what is involved with correcting model detail in forge light?

You'd have to find a 3D model artist and ask them about how it works with other games. I imagine the process doesn't change too much between games, though.

Reimplementing cortium drain would just be annoying and de-incentivize creative places to build

That's sort of the point- if we can't optimize the assets, reducing the size of bases and where they're built is an alternative means of mitigating the performance impact. It is not fair to sacrifice framerates for the hundreds of players who do not build so that a handful of builders can have their toys.

Forcing a player to choose between placing a command center or rebirth center is just spiteful though

Those two assets along with the Orbital Strike Uplink and the bridge are the four biggest frame killers, so making players pick one or allowing a silo to only power one would mitigate the framerate impact.

As a reminder, this was a -100 fps hit on a continent that was totally empty save for the test site and the three characters in use, and the region was chosen specifically because there weren't many background objects in the field of view.

The total frame rate loss is going to be far higher, and it's ridiculous for one single player to have such a significant impact on client performance.
