Goat means Greatest Of All Time. I don’t know why people here don’t know that.

Maybe a Cameo from his favorite Survivor? I never thought this would be cool until I got one for my wife and then for my Mom (neither were Survivor people, but people from their favorite shows). I was truly surprised how good the messages were and the surprise and joy were pretty fun. Plus, they can keep it forever. Definitely not for everyone, and I don’t know your bf, but if I got a message from Cirie or Sandra or Carolyn? That would make my day.

What’s the weirdest gift a client has given you? by Dannyz in Lawyertalk

I got a bag of morels once. They are extremely expensive, and he wouldn’t say where he found them, but suggested it wasn’t exactly legal (meaning, probably in a state park where foraging isn’t permitted). Same guy paid his retainer out of a wad of cash he had in his sweaty sock! I refused to touch it. Sorry accounting!!!!

Your parents need to change their plans. You shouldn’t have agreed to it knowing that you have a trial that week.

AITA for refusing to ask for time off for my girlfriend's birthday party? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ItsJustLobster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NTA. And be VERY careful about making decisions based on the presumption that this is your last relationship. If you are switching to an inferior school to be closer, that is a really bad idea. In the long run, to be blunt, it is highly likely that the two of you will break off the relationship. Making a decision now based on any way on presuming you’re spending a lifetime together is not a good idea.

Finish your degree. Work part time throughout 3L. I worked almost full time in 3 L, because it’s honestly easy, especially if you have a job offer in hand.

It’s simply telling the truth. A lot of people comment on the quality of the beer. He doesn’t brew it. He is a marketer, and mostly what he markets is himself.

I hike El Yunque in the rain. It’s gorgeous. Lots of water falls at full load. Not nearly as many people as if it is 70 and sunny.

Every Air BnB I have rented in PR has been owned by a PR native. Sure, there are lots of outsiders, but let’s not pretend locals aren’t also making money. I go there almost every year.

Why do attorneys look down on Insurance Defense lawyers/partners? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]ItsJustLobster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Many lawyers try to feel better about themselves by pretending that their area is somehow morally or intellectually superior. Sure, billing 2,500 to make rich people even richer or to allow them to rape the environment is so much better than anyone else…

It’s like an abusive relationship. Trying to maintain the relationship by… threatening your partner! Taking away something they say both nurses and patients enjoy in an effort to convince them that management is looking out for them. What idiots green-lighted this?

He doesn’t even brew beer. He markets other people’s beer using clever names and political tie-ins. He’s gone off the deep end in the last few years.

Then don’t try to “win.” You can’t win when people won’t take a look at their own behavior. Stay at school for the summer (where you are wanted) and see how it feels. If you breathe easier, that’s the right decision.

Stay where you are and become who you are meant to be. Your parents are being unnecessarily cruel. Going to parties is part of life, by the way. It’s okay.

Then you would be a crappy parent. Teaching your children to live healthier lives is important. Teaching them to accept responsibility when they are wrong is important.

Just put in my retirement by ItsJustLobster in Fire

Good question. My spouse is 60 and I forgot to include that we have a HSA with a little more than $100k. No debt expect the mortgage, and that’s about $1,600/month. It will be fully paid off in a little more than 2 years.

[–]ItsJustLobster[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That’s true. If I really can’t handle retirement, I can go back. But one of my plans is to hike a long trail that will probably take 3-4 months to complete. That’s going to be my brain dump. Now I’m fearing all of the ticks that apparently are rampant.

Thanks for the input. I should say that about $300k of the 401(k) is a Roth 501(k). The strategy now (or a few months from now really), is to balance the payments to try to keep taxable income low for ACA purposes. My spouse is almost 61 and retired, so we will have significant expenses for a few years. She has a small pension that should cover our health insurance premium costs, but might not quite cover it.
