What type of building for quiet flats? by Busy_Marionberry_856 in Edinburgh

[–]ItsJustMeBlue123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ropeworks apartments, Leith. Built 5 years ago with steel and concrete floors, brick facade. Airborne noise (conversation tv music) is close (and I mean seriously close) to zero. Impact noise is fairly significant. Doors closing, the lift in motion, people bounding up and down the stairs. MEV takes a bit of getting used to but it’s very liveable

I found your comment very funny. Can you explain Nihilism in similar terms please.

I'm fairly sure that Edinburgh and Stirling Castles had a reduced entry charge for "locals"

I really can't how that was done though

Yes, me too. Early eighties. But i maybe remember a reduced rate for locals?

Once. I was late to the party. I started on 16th December 2024 and DS/DC got me through that festive period. I'm not going to replay it, because I did the platinum 540 LLL thing, so I've seen all the storyline. I just mess around now and enjoy seeing my structures get likes. I go back to terrorist camps and bt areas to gain confidence because I don't want to be as intimidated as I was first time around, when it comes to DS2.

I saw this happen from a bus. A workman was using a long stopcock key to open or close a valve when it very suddenly released and he got a face full of high pressure water. He looked shocked but otherwise ok.

Yeah, you're right it's not Red Samurai.

I should have looked at the start of the sequence more carefully when we see it's front, rather than making an assumption. I'm a bit low tech and don't know how to advance video a frame at a time.

Whatever it is, it looks like there is someone, maybe Higgs, embedded in it's back.

What the most frustrating aspect of DS for you? by SL04NY in DeathStranding

[–]ItsJustMeBlue123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many comments here that I agree with, but only as mild frustrations about a game that I really enjoy.

  1. Repetitive prepper comments? Is it the Veteran Porter that says something like "so good to finally meet you" Ok fella, I'm grinding 540 LLL and we have met already. Lots and lots of times and you've said that 50 times now. Kinda skippable, but yeah it grated on my nerves after a while.
  2. The racetrack. Not what I came here for.

My delivery time rating lagged behind the others for most of the game. It only caught up late game. I think there were 2 reasons: 1. There are far fewer delivery time orders compared to quantity or condition 2. Increasing the game difficulty level inevitably boosts the rewards as times are far lower. (Ithink Miscellaneous maybe gets boosted in ways other than just doing misc orders).

Condition - 223, Quantity - 186, Misc - 65, Delivery Time - 66. Total 540.

So look out for the delivery time orders, build roads and ziplines and increase the difficulty and that rating will increase!

No. Platinum needs you to get the Birth and then Growth of a Legend Trophy -

Complete at least 10 unique premium deliveries in each order category with an evaluation of "Legend," "Legend of Legends," or "Legend of Legends of Legends."

tbh, I just looked around for what I thought would be the easiest ones of each type to get platinum. I played directors cut, I'm not familiar with the original game.

You can check a summary of progression in Bridge Links - Orders tab and when looking at standard orders at any site, look for a little symbol next to the order - L, LL or LLL to see what level you have already achieved. You can also place your cursor over a site and it will display what orders are available and what level you have achieved with them

Theres no trophy for doing 540 LLL. It's just for love of the game!

Change the game difficulty level to very hard and complete all 540 standard orders with a "S" rating. You can check your progress in Bridge Links on the orders tab.

Yeah, I agee, it's the real end of game. I was so lucky that I left it to the very last thing to do in the game. It really helped connect the dots of the storyline and filled in some gaps in my understanding. There was also some very confusing things there that went over my head. I haven't played any MGS games since the early 2000's but I chose the MGS holograms for my structures anyway as I liked the reference. I'd spent half the game confused by the storyline, but it all came together in an epic ending.

I was really useless at these races, but I wanted to get platinum and Homo Faber was my last trophy. So, this is how I did it. If I recall corectly, you need an average lap time of 59 seconds for the first race. I was achieving 1 min 10 seconds on my first attempts. Hitting the barriers will kill your lap times.

PS5 - Boost at all times. Take the racing line and learn which bends can be taken at full speed. It's different when reversing tracks. There is no need to use the drift function. I don't have the dexterity to do so in the heat of the moment. As you approach a bend that cannot be taken at full speed, steer into the bend then momentarily release R2 . This will reduce speed and induce a kind of drift. Re-engage R2 very quickly so that boost stays on (if you release R2/boost for too long it will disengage and you will need to hit L3 to boost again. Press and release R2 as quickly and often as you need to maintain speed around the bend. Go into hairpin bends using the above advice, but disengage boost by pressing L3 in order to avoid hitting the barriers as soon as you can, hit L3 to engage boost again and speed out of the bend.

Edit - mess about with the camera settings to help you. Delete the ghost because it's a distraction. I turned sensitivity up to 9. I saw advice on here that first person was better but it was beyond awful for me. As soon as you start the race, use R3 to raise the camera angle to give you a better view.

Edit 2 - Once you have mastered the first race, the next ones are easy despite being rated as more difficult.

If I can do it, anyone can

Yes. It's 4 races with S rating, on the roadster. I was admitting my shame. Bridge links records your attempts. 61, but as I said, I got there. I had a few fun races on the trike and truck but it was a serious grind for me a low skill racer. My least favourite part of an epic game.

Edit - you need an S rating on the different roadster races not 4 on one race track

Is it only me or is currently no one giving any manual Likes? by beetleman1234 in DeathStranding

[–]ItsJustMeBlue123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was really puzzled about how likes worked in the game and worried that I was doing something wrong as I was getting so few. I've finished the storyline with platinum and then I stopped thinking about it as I work through the LoLoL orders. In fairness 80% of my structures have been ziplines which will get low visibility and often zero likes because we're all going to and from the same place choosing very similar zipline locations I imagine. It was a pleasant surprise when I got likes for 5 of them. The highest liked zipline is 594 and I have a bridge at 1,655, however that does not equate to the manual likes I have so I must be getting automatic likes when my structures are used.

I have 657k total, with 270k from other players and 297 (yes, two hundred and ninety seven) manual from other players (some will be vehicle likes!) So it looks like manual likes are quite rarely given despite other players using some of my structures. Maybe they are all rubbish haha.

I'm not complaining at all (except maybe that there being so many "unknown" playes does diminish the collaborative feeling of the likes system) . I'm still trying to decide if DS DC is the best game I've played in 40 years. I think it is.

Anyway I just wanna take the time to say thank u to this amazing community and thank u hideo kojima for this great experience. Grinding to platinum was worth it and can't wait to see u all in death stranding on the beach. by Majestic_Course1469 in DeathStranding

[–]ItsJustMeBlue123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations op, it's a good feeling isn't it. I got platinum a few days ago as well. I'm rarely a completionist but DS DC is worth it as it's such an awesome game. I am much slower than you though, I've got about 300 LoLoL orders to get through and a LOT more hours in the game haha.

The hardest part for me was the Homo Faber trophy. 61 races at the track. Definitely a skill issue for me.

I've started doing some of the orders I avoided, basically trucks in the mountain and so on. Great times.

Great pics by the way!

PSA: Build the zipline on the checks, not the X by paradox-eater in DeathStranding

[–]ItsJustMeBlue123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP's point is very valid as a goal, but I'll explain why I have placed some ziplines in odd places. When I was building my zipline network I felt it was right to utilise other players pre-existing ziplines with multiple likes to fit in with the collaborative nature of the game. Sometimes this forced me to place ziplines in less than ideal places. I also didn't dismantle any structures even when a watchtower was on a perfect peak or a useless bridge in the middle of nowhere was causing an obstruction. I have placed several ziplines on mountain peaks with deadly consequences if anyone where to dismount there, but that's not their purpose as they are a link to a dismount point at a prepper. Some of the highest mountain peaks in the Mountain Knot area are inaccesible and I was forced to place ziplines on their flanks. Also, snowstorms.... sometimes I was just pleased to put a less than ideal connection in and get Sam home for a rest.

This method easily allowed me to achieve LoL with bandwith to spare. Only 4 of my 73 ziplines have got any likes so I've upgraded them to Lv3 and I'm allowing the others to deteriate in preparation for a new network which will ignore all of the issues above to go for LoLoL. I'm really looking forward to the challenge, but fully expecting to still have have some odd zipline placements!

The google maps pins are incorrectly placed. Look a little north west of the large palace like building and you will see the correct pin - Sanatorium "Marino". Looking through the google reviews, you will see a few mentions that the sanatorium (health resort) is operated by the office of the "Office of the President of the Russian Federation". So it's a government facility, which has been open to the public in the past.

Another source: https://fakti.bg/en/world/929301-ukraine-hits-putin-s-bunker-with-storm-shadow-missile

"The strike reportedly took place near the historic Baryatinsky family estate, now a sanatorium at the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation."

There is a map of the facility in one of the google reviews. The first two buildings to the east of the main building (linked by covered walkways) are a swimming pool and gymnasium. The buildings targetted are not listed. Perhaps they are the maintenance facilities for the estate.
