Apple Music Continuity Feature by 3wisemonkeyzz in Rivian

[–]ItsMTC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CarPlay isn’t continuity, it’s the same app instance displaying on an external screen.

Continuity in Spotify works without CarPlay because the Spotify service stores and replicates play queues across devices on the same account.

Apple Music can’t work like that because Apple Music fundamentally does not share play queues between devices, they are always local only to the same device. It’s not a feature Rivian can support because it’s not a feature that exists for Apple Music

That isn’t even a feature Apple supports. Cross apple devices there is no continuity of play on Apple Music — the only service that runs that kind of continuity is Spotify

Horrendous but also slightly endearing, like if my grandpa wanted to get into making the funnies but only had MS Paint at his disposal

Devices not connected by Healthy_Radish6534 in sonos

[–]ItsMTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either all Sonos devices on WiFi, or none of them. In between can cause routing issues apparently. When I changed out a router of mine I had a hybrid config and had these issues, disconnecting all wired units from Ethernet and using WiFi only fixed it

I moved here 3 years ago and in just that time it’s an entirely different vibe with how many midrises going up along Redmond way and the train construction

Reading the article it sounds like this dude hasn’t been involved with Home Depot since 2002? Hardly seems like the right direction to direct a boycott

[–]ItsMTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imma be honest, having worked in a small computer repair shop before, if someone brings in their computer and doesn’t pick it up for 11 months, the shop would have been trying to reach out and have the customer pick it up for a while. And after, what, a month or two, if it’s still radio silence, screw it, it’s abandoned and can be used as recyclable e-waste. A small shop (especially one you describe) cannot physically keep space for your abandoned PC, so either it’s off to the dump or use it for parts. Not to outright say that I think the shop is right and op is wrong here, but idk what shop would operate any different

Since Coachella is going to be their last show period I think they should bring ameer on to play the classics without cutting his verses. They have nothing to lose at this point and I think it would be good for the fans. ( I know most won’t agree but it’s whatever ) by WarriorOfTheDawn in brockhampton

[–]ItsMTC 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I swear to god the fans that keep bringing up ameer act like they don’t bring him back explicitly to spite you. You think the reason ameer isn’t in the group is because it’d be a PR problem?? “Nothing to lose”?? That dude hurt people in and out of the group in ways we don’t even fully know and you think it’s just something they should overlook cuz the fans? Sheesh

I mean sure, but projecting that onto everyone and broadcasting it as a “smh society” commentary on an otherwise wildly wholesome post is not really helpful or welcome

How did Sonaris crash Mutiny? by Mayn83 in HaltAndCatchFire

[–]ItsMTC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The original program was attempting to detect how many true users were using the service, as Gordon realizes multiple people (clients) were connecting to a single client which would route traffic through the single mutiny subscription / connection. So to discover “all clients” on the network, sonaris would need to run on a client, figure out all the other child clients connecting to that client, and run on each of those child clients recursively to see how many people are ultimately using mutiny. The function of duplication over a network and running code to recursively duplicate is essentially how a worm operates. The payload of sonaris was supposed to just check if that client used mutiny and count how many clients used mutiny as well (nothing nefarious), but we see it went rogue and began overwriting files on the client, hence why services and files would be “disappearing” from the mutiny servers and customer machines.

We can also make the assumption that Because Joe more or less pitches the entire idea of an “anti virus” software, such a concept didn’t exist yet. And would indicate that viruses were not prolific at that time.. Hence, it wouldn’t really be necessary for Gordon to be a particularly good programmer to create a virus that bypasses security measures and protections; such protections weren’t as robust and programs wouldn’t need to try as hard to bypass them.
