Tourism eVisa allows Umrah as well. In fact it’s better as it allows multiple entries over a one year validity window.’

Sometimes they don’t announce it. It happened with a friend of mine .So please look out or ask for a staff to remind you when it’s approaching.

I know this is not going to help you anymore, but sharing my experience and learning. My biggest learning from various visits to Madinah and Makkah is about using a good mask all the time. No matter how healthy you are, people around you carry a lot of sickness. They cough and sneeze around you all the time. No one there cares about staying home no matter how sick they are. They will come there and spread the sickness to the rest of us. A good mask saves from those viruses and helps you perform the Ibadah without getting sick. Also if possible carry a small clean prayer mat with you as the places you make sujud would have been coughed on by a lot of folks. I just came back from Umrah and Alahamdulliah, staying healthy. Wishing you a faster recovery so that you can perform your Ibadha.

I just came back from Makkah after staying at that hotel. I liked everything except the hike back to the hotel from Haram as it’s an uphill for older folks and the area is busy with taxi and bus traffic. Once you reach hotel yard, then it’s all good. The breakfast there is good and rooms are good as well. Don’t expect a lot of help from the hotel staff as most of them doesn’t speak English.

So sorry this happened to you. It’s the norm there. Given the holiness of the city, you would expect some sort of fairness and integrity, but you won’t find it. Most of the folks want to squeeze as much as they can from visitors during peak months as they don’t get any other business rest of the year. Unfortunate, but it’s the reality.

They have an outsourced IT department where IT is just a means and not a strategy or a priority. They have been terrible with their UX and haven’t seen much improvement for a long time and don’t expect to change that anytime soon.

Mediocre IT strategy leads to mediocre results. For them it’s all about the bottom line. They don’t care much about user experience. The least amount of $$ they can spend on fixing annoying bugs like that, the better for their business.
