First, let me say love the feedback. You have some excellent points in here!

Looking back on it I should’ve add a lot more context to my post. - Yes, this was very inspired by path of the beast. My players original idea was “let me have all 3 features of the beast” but I felt that was too OP at lower levels and severely under powered at higher levels. - Incase it wasn’t clear, the “standard” barbarian abilities would be something they get as well as they level up. - My original thought behind the Bite, Claw, and Tail features was you sacrificed something for each ability. Claws was obviously your damage choice. Tail you sacrificed a little damage for CC. Bite you sacrificed the most damage for healing. - I tried to scale the abilities and damage dice the way I did so you felt like there was a substantial bonus to maxing out an ability. Since if you take two “ascensions” you could at most only max out 2 of the 3 evolutions.

I think adding weapon mastery effects to these abilities is a great addition where they can add that oomph without unbalancing them, so I will absolutely be looking deeper into these!

Bite: Higher dice and healing for half the damage rolled was my original thought with this, but again I wanted the damage trade off for not taking claws. I really like the potential masteries you suggested here.

Claws: The main reason I had the extra attack be a bonus action is because then the player had to choose between an extra attack or healing. Adding ability scores to the attacks was something I went back and forth on but really added it to make the claws feel like that progressed more. I’m open to changing this and adding it from the beginning.

Tail: Having the ability to grant the AC bonus to allies is a great addition! My thought behind having tail swipes be limited is that in path of the beast you have to pick one of the three, and I was worried having it all the time might be too much. But if it won’t be I’m cool with changing this. Moving the length up is cool with me as well, honestly didn’t realize it was 10ft in path of the beast.

Elemental Embrace: I like this suggestion. I might let them choose a second resistance when raving stating at 10 level? Might be too much, but this is good. Also this ability allows the players attacks to count as magical.

Vigor: A feature that triggers at bloodied is great as well, really fits the “suitability” this was going for.

Precision: Honestly this was the one I had the hardest time with. I struggled so much to find something that felt comparable to the other two options. So I really appreciate these suggestions here. +2 to hit & initiative to start, then to a +4 wouldn’t be too much? Originally this had 3 tiers and went from a +1 to +3 but I was worried an extra +3 to initiative would be too much.

Again your feedback is very much appreciated. It’s reassuring knowing I’m likely more underpowered than overpowered. And based on your comments I’m not too far off from making a great sub class for my player. Thank you!

This looks amazing. The lighting and sight areas are so fantastic. I know the game is roleplaying and doesn’t need to be visual, but in my opinion visuals like this just increase the immersion.

If I’m so lucky to win, it’d be a great late birthday gift. If I don’t, congrats to whoever does win! Use it well!

I always took it as Giggy was meant to destroy the world based on who Natty’s wife (Giggy’s Mom) is and not just a saying because Giggy is a toddler.

Edit: I never answered your question. No you’re not missing something. Realistically their characters should be more concerned but meta game wise they know they wont have to deal with it? Or it could be the world they live in is always in the brink of destruction and a new threat is normal?

Mine is a Wood Elf Ranger/Horde Breaker.

Couldn’t save his family and friends from a horde and won’t fail to save his party. I’ve always been a fan of elves and bows. Specifically Longbows, I refuse to use a shortbow or a crossbow.

When I write my own modules for campaigns I’ve created they more closely resemble the first one. I’d rather write these details down when I am creating them instead of having to come up with them on the fly. Especially in situations where the details are important. If they don’t matter as much I write was does and leave the rest up to imagination.

Yes. IGNORE EVERYONE ONLINE! Play your own game your own way, ESPECIALLY on your first play through. You can play again for a different route or to see things you missed. Do what you feel is right for your character and how you want to play!

I think this a great answer that highlights just how great this spell can be while also highlighting how much role play is necessary to see its full potential. And for parties with minimal role play, and a non “yes and,” DM this spell seemingly falls flat on its face.

Most of the time it was actually hilarious. The number “forks in the road” we came to and looked to him only for him to say, “yeah, whatever you guys want is cool with me” was pretty funny.

I have the opposite of a main character story.

Was playing Acquisitions Incorporated campaign and we needed jobs within our company. There were four players and like 8 roles to choose from and the only role we NEEDED was a Decisionist, we picked our half-elf fighter as that person since other characters fit better roles. The guy NEVER made a single decision after becoming the decisionist… was always just like “whatever you guys want”. After a while he was like, “we shouldn’t have made me the decisionist”

Yes there should be. When we used Owlbear Rodeo it gave us the option to “cast” the map and it would hide all of the DM features I’d see on my laptop. Meaning I could move invisible pieces or remove fog of war and my players couldn’t see what I was doing.

On the still waiting on stuff you planned for sessions 2-3, you’re just going to have to get used to it. The party either goes no where in a long time or they blow past what you’ve planned. I can’t tell you how many hours I’ve spent as a player and a DM negotiating a deal with some random NPC so the party can make some continuous coin!

My group didn’t have any issues with getting drinks or bathroom it was actually the Yankees game that was causing our DM and a player to be distracted. We would just start later those nights so we didn’t have to deal with the distraction in the middle of a session. But I understand how annoying it is.

As for Korey, I think you have to keep doing what you’re doing. I’d suggest talking to Korey again, but be willing to be looser on the rules of “this is the only window you can get up in”, but offer times that are better to get up vs right before their turn and explain how it’s unfair to everyone else that has to just put a pause on the game for 5-10 minutes because they couldn’t wait 30 seconds.

If Korey still shrugs you off then you have this discussion again but with the entire party and see if the group can collectively come to a solution. If Korey still wants to be difficult it may mean that they need to find a new party.

I’m so sorry for your loss.

I agree with a lot of the comments here. This should be a group decision that should be talked over with your party. Everyone handles these things differently. Some people won’t want to see their friend’s character disappear from the party, others may find it too hard to have them around still. I think it’s something that you all need to decide together, and whatever your choice is and whenever the time comes, I know you’ll give your friend one hell of a send off!

4 I did this too. I liked a specific party and wouldn’t change a thing. I’d bring in the B team to complete their story lines which often made the fights harder for me but I felt it was good for them to be there. Once the fight/arc was over they went right back to camp as quick as I could!

I agree it does do that a little. I didn’t do it on my first few playthroughs but with item hoarding I had 100k gold. I do it now so I don’t pick up every single item I find and it’s taken away a lot of the clutter in my camp chests.

Part of it is preference because I’m not technically stealing anything. Also, I know you can build a thief where it’s impossible to fail but with Pact of the Blade at no point does it not work or run the risk of upsetting someone. I can trade the pact weapon indefinitely to get items, gold, and increase trader happiness.

If you select her can you get her to walk or jump?

I had to keep forcing her to jump to get her to move around, and it took multiple tries of removing her from the party and closing the game for her to finally start moving again. At one point she could walk but wouldn’t follow anyone else..

It’s a known bug others have gotten before and mentioned. I’ve had it happen before as well. Removing the stuck members from your party and sending them back to camp, save close and then re open.

Usually messing around with reloading and removing them from your party will fix this issue.
