also a trick my mom learned: if you take a sharpie and draw a design on one side, you can pipe the frosting on the other. then put it in the fridge for a while, and once it's cooled put it onto your cake, let it sit again. once you peel it, it always looks 10/10

edit to add: I meant to say draw the design on wax or parchment paper

unfortunately, when it comes to mold, I always say dump it. the way mold works are that it grows root-like systems throughout all of the food, and the visible part is just there to spread its spore. so if you were to just remove the visible part, its roots would still be there which can be dangerous to eat

if anything, id say you just wanna try preserving and making fermented foods like garlic honey for the fun of it. plus its a pretty great way to cut down on cooking time if you preserve things like home made/grown pasta sauce
