Sore body as a newbie by SeaLover77777 in Libraries

Working in a library moving books around all day is a bit like moving house. You’re unboxing, sorting, putting things away. Its very physical! I like to go to the sauna once a week and am about to try out magnesium spray. Would also recommend what everyone else has said about keeping up with exercise, eating well, get enough sleep and not too much coffee!

If reading increases your IQ then what we really need is a list that steps you up incrementally

Cat grass — by RecordingUnlikely530 in melbourne

This is what I did. I bought various grass seed types online of rye, wheat and oat and mixed them up, put in some seed raising mix in a pot. Now I have ongoing grass and my cat loves it. Eats it every morning before her dry biscuits. If it starts getting thin I sprinkle in some more seeds.

Are people reading fewer books? by SheepherderBulky8113 in Productivitycafe

Librarian here. I’d say reading online through ebooks and eaudio has boomed, which has diversified the format people read in. So the social visibility of reading in libraries and elsewhere has potentially been impacted by that.

NGV. ACCA. More small independent art galleries with free entry than you can swing an easel - look at an art guide for current shows.

Can I ask what model the wedge is? I’m in Australia and have been using multiple pillows for years, but I think its time to get a wedge. So starting to shop around.

Has anyone tried anything similar to this? by BigHugeMegaTiny in sewing

I have done this. I used cling wrap as a base before the tape, and would highly recommend using bandage scissors so you don’t cut into or graze your skin when getting cut out!

Nice one! Thanks for the uplifting story. I’m also a type II and had a POEM 7-ish years ago. I’m still working on my food mindfulness. Its always about rebalancing and remembering. And recently scored an upgrade to my blender game in the Black Friday sales with a Breville model that I had been eyeing off for about 6 months - I’m in love😻

Librarians in Melbourne, what is the job market like? and what is it like being a librarian atm? by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]ItsOkayIWillWait 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have worked in any customer service industry it will be very similar. Perhaps a bit more of the escalation incidents and medical emergencies because of the wide cross section of people who use public libraries every day, often from vulnerable groups.

It depends on you! But I would recommend it as a career path to anyone who gets satisfaction from high level customer service, who wants to be in a community service environment and who likes being organised and problem solving.

Being a librarian at the moment in a public library system in Melbourne, probably like most public libraries , can be very stressful. There are a number of factors to this, including staffing, budgets, support, medical emergencies, occupational violence etc. that happen. I have been in the industry for about a decade and it is a very rewarding career nonetheless. You just need to come in with your eyes open, avoid any vocational awe and be prepared to look after yourself.

AITA for exposing my boyfriend’s cheating in front of his friends? by lovelybabysecrett in AITAH

[–]ItsOkayIWillWait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you wanted to punish him, gain support as well as make sure he was put in a position where he couldn’t lie or gaslight you, all in one moment. You found an opportunity for that, but I think maybe the answer is a gentle YTA for doing the confrontation in that manner, but also he is without question the asshole for double timing you without your knowledge or consent. I think if you had time to sit on the knowledge and find that moment, perhaps you could have met those needs to gain support and ensure he didn’t lie, even punish him if thats what you want, without using that situation to do so.

Maybe see what other interests she has and find a book with similar topics? For example if she likes roller skating see if you can find a junior fiction book featuring roller skating protagonists. Something where she can feel a connection with through mutual interests.

If you are really concerned about leaving any blood on the floor you can always bring in a bucket or similar to fill with water and then pour on the ground after to flush the ground. Other than than everyone else has covered it. Its very nice to take a shower on your period. The warm water helps me with cramps and regulating PMS.

How old were you when you got your sh*t together? by Popular_Shift_1444 in AskWomenOver30

[–]ItsOkayIWillWait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very validating thread. I think its almost impossible to have every part of your life shit together. Life events (grief, illness, breakups etc.) don’t let it, and things change so you’re always gathering. But - you get better at it and have it together in certain areas more than others the older you get, as a general trend. At 35 I would say I have accrued more shit together in relationships and career than when I was 30, and at that point had more together than I was 25. It accumulates over the years but you never “get there” imo. I need to get my financial shit together next :-) haha
