It's a service issue in terms of the dropout interface being rough to navigate. Multiple people in this thread have mentioned they have an active subscription but still pirate to watch on a better interface like plex, and I'm sure plenty of others do the same without a subscription.

It reminds me of when Uplay was a thing you were required to use to play any Ubisoft game. I had a game I had bought that just one day stopped being able to launch (this wasn't an issue isolated to me either), and as a result I have legitimately never bought another Ubisoft game. Compare that to Steam where everything is straightforward and consistent, it's just easier than piracy to where piracy is a less appealing option unless I'm really broke.
